• In the morning, hotel pickup will occur in Madurai, followed by a drive to Athangudi, a small village with a population of 2000 in the Chettinad district, known for its handmade floor tiles. You will visit traditional tile-making and pottery workshops. The colorful Athangudi tiles were produced for the Chettiars for their mansions and are still crafted by hand today. • After Athangudi, the journey will continue to Thirumayam Fort, a structure from the 17th century with a history of numerous battles and intrigues. • Next, you will explore Kanadukathan, a town recognized for its grand mansions featuring intricate woodwork, terracotta, and tile designs. You will also visit the antiques market in Karaikudi and observe local weaving looms that create the renowned Chettinad textiles. Additionally, this tour provides insight into the living culture of Chettinad, showcasing paddy farming, small villages, local markets, and shrines dedicated to folk deities. If the timing aligns, you may witness festivals and celebrations. The tour concludes with a return drive to Madurai for a drop-off at your hotel.
