I found it very disappointing. I expected to gain some insight into the history and culture of the Navajo people, but I learned nothing. We were hurried through each stop and returned to the base before sunset. Overall, it wasn't a good experience.
This tour highlights the stunning beauty of Monument Valley and offers insights into Navajo culture and beliefs. Our guide, Travis, was fantastic and made the experience enjoyable. The elevated seating in the pickup bed adds to the excitement, so be prepared for a lively ride. Travis introduced us to hidden gems within the tribal park and shared meaningful stories. A special moment was when he played a two-chambered Native American flute while another guide accompanied with guitar. We highly recommend this tour.
The guide was excellent and we enjoyed some wonderful sights, but I was really let down that we didn't get to see the sunset. I don't understand how it can be called a sunset tour when it ends before sunset.
We participated in the Sunset tour. Larry, our guide, was outstanding; he provided a lot of information and was very entertaining. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.
Crawly Chandler was a fantastic guide. His storytelling about Navajo culture and the formation of Monument Valley was captivating. Riding in the open-air vehicle was thrilling while allowing us to enjoy the breeze and stunning views. He went above and beyond to ensure we captured perfect sunset photos, and I truly appreciate his efforts to enhance our experience on the Monument Valley tribal tour.
The highlight of the tour was definitely our guide, Larry, who is a Native American. His storytelling skills and deep knowledge of the Navajo experience, both past and present, were impressive. He assisted everyone with photos, played a native flute, and was more than willing to answer any questions. I strongly endorse this excursion.
Our family had been planning this trip from Florida to the Grand Canyon, including a special detour to Monument Valley and Zion, for over five years. We called it the EPIC journey. Our time with Travis, known as Dark Skies, was both magical and epic—it became the highlight of our travels. A particularly memorable moment was when a local weaver asked to style my brother's long hair after sharing her cultural insights; it felt like a spiritual experience that truly touched me. Throughout our journey, Travis openly shared stories about his family and heritage, celebrated my mother’s 84th birthday with a heartfelt song, and showcased native instruments. He also took us off the regular path for a unique behind-the-scenes look. This experience will forever hold a special place in my heart, making it one of my life’s highlights. I highly recommend joining a Navajo Tour at Monument Valley, and if possible, request Travis. Don't forget to buy something with turquoise and later enjoy Stagecoach at home.
I had high hopes when booking this tour, and it certainly lived up to them. Nate was an outstanding guide, providing insightful information about his culture and people. We enjoyed breathtaking views, learned about Navajo traditions, and even enjoyed traditional music with singing and flutes. The sunset at Monument Valley was incredibly beautiful. However, I want to mention that my travel companion, who is nearly 80, faced some difficulty entering and exiting the truck due to the high step. I also had a bit of trouble because of my short legs. I highly recommend wearing tennis shoes, as the terrain can be uneven and sandy. Additionally, be prepared for a very bumpy ride since you'll be exploring the backcountry. Overall, this tour was truly epic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For those traveling with older companions, it’s beneficial to be aware of these potential challenges for better planning. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour if you can manage it.
This tour was fantastic! I really enjoyed our guide Larry.
My mom and I had a wonderful time on the tour. Larry's flute playing was beautiful, and we really enjoyed taking our photo with the eagle on the rock. It was a great experience. I recommend having a step stool available for older tourists, as I had to assist my 83-year-old mom getting in and out of the truck.
