The views were breathtaking. Toney Begay picked us up at the View Hotel and expertly navigated the rugged terrain of Hunt’s Mesa. This adventure is definitely for those seeking a challenge, but Toney made it seem effortless in his Chevy Suburban. We enjoyed stunning sunset vistas while he prepared a delicious meal of steak, baked potato, corn on the cob over an open flame with Pinion wood, along with tasty Navajo tea. My wife rested in the tent while I admired the star-filled sky, which was incredible on a new moon night. The sunrise from Tom Till Point was as beautiful as promised, offering sights from Colorado to Utah. Although there was some smoke from wildfires in the area, it didn’t take away from the fantastic morning light. Overall, we highly recommend Toney Begay and the overnight experience with Monument Valley Safari on Hunt’s Mesa.
As French tourists, we spent a night tent camping at Hunts Mesa with Toney and were blown away by the breathtaking views of Monument Valley at both sunset and sunrise. The night was magical under a stunning sky filled with the Milky Way, enjoying a barbecue around the fire, sharing songs and stories of the Navajo Nation, all before resuming our camping. We felt the same excitement during the sunrise the next morning. The 4X4 ride to Hunts Mesa was thrilling, navigating up and down rocks and sand, and Toney demonstrated his skill as a driver, expertly guiding us through the terrain. One suggestion for improvement would be for Toney to point out the restroom location upon arrival at the campground.
This experience was amazing. Our guide was exceptional. As a photographer, I sought unique views of Monument Valley, and he revealed stunning spots for both the sunset and the sunrise the following morning. Our group consisted of three people. The sleeping conditions were simple but sufficient, featuring a large tent and warm sleeping bags for our one-night stay. We enjoyed a hearty steak dinner cooked perfectly over the fire and had eggs and sausage for breakfast, along with excellent camp coffee. I strongly recommend this tour, especially for photographers.
I had dreamed of taking this trip for decades and chose MV Safaris based on reviews about their food quality for dinner and breakfast. I was not let down. Our guide, Tony, who is Navajo, surpassed all my expectations. As an impressive driver on the off-road path to the summit, he showcased his skills while another company's vehicle got stuck. His knowledge of indigenous history, covering both traditional beliefs and modern migration theories from Central Asia, was enlightening. He shared personal stories about being raised by his grandmother and worked tirelessly for our enjoyment, advising on photo spots, setting up camp—including manually inflating the comfortable double air mattresses—and cooking a complete meal over the campfire. In the morning, he was up before sunrise to prepare a hearty breakfast and brew strong cowboy coffee. I appreciated how he dismantled camp and cleaned up all the garbage, leaving only some uneaten strawberries behind. A large raven even waited patiently for us to leave. My only regret was not having enough time to spend with such a remarkable person as Tony. Thank you, Tony.
On May 26th, we participated in the Hunt's Mesa overnight tour, and it was an incredible experience. This was our second outing with Monument Valley Safari, where we were fortunate to have our original guide, Toney Begay. Additionally, we had the pleasure of driving with Toney's nephew, "Ti," who proved to be just as knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining as his uncle. The views from the top of the mesa are indescribable; they must be experienced firsthand. I wholeheartedly recommend this overnight tour to anyone wanting to explore the true essence of Monument Valley.
It was a fantastic outing with the entire mesa to ourselves. Our guide was friendly and took care of everything. He was very knowledgeable about the area and shared insights while also allowing us to savor the beautiful location.
This experience is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The ride to the location is incredibly thrilling and takes off-roading to a whole new level. Although I'm not typically a camper, I managed to get through one night. The views were stunning, and our Navajo guides were fantastic.
This tour was truly incredible and will be a memorable experience for me. Tony, our guide, was exceptional and made the journey comfortable in every aspect. His driving skills on the way to Hunts Mesa were remarkable, and I felt safe throughout the trip, even though parts of the drive were a little intimidating. Tony prepared both dinner and breakfast, took us to the most picturesque spots for sunrise and photography, and shared fascinating stories about the region. The setting was surreal, peaceful, and a nice escape from the crowds, allowing us to fully appreciate the views of Monument Valley. It was worth every cent. Don't hesitate to book this tour.
This experience offers a beautiful blend of visual, cultural, and spiritual elements. The journey to the campsite is enjoyable, filled with intriguing insights. Located in a stunning spot, the campsite provides fantastic views of Monument Valley. Sean took exceptional care of our group, setting up the tents, preparing a delicious steak dinner, and sharing fascinating stories about Navajo history and culture that challenged what we thought we knew. The stargazing was spectacular, and we even witnessed the Northern Lights. The breathtaking views during the late evening and sunrise in the valley were unforgettable. Breakfast was hearty, and the return trip included enjoyable surprises. While it may not be cheap, it is worth every dollar, and everyone we encountered was delightful. I highly recommend it.
Spending the money on this experience is worthwhile because 98% of park visitors won't have the chance to enjoy it. The sunset, sunrise, and the breathtaking views of the valley are truly remarkable.
