3The Bario Highlands (Kelabit Highlands) is a highland plateau in the interior of Sarawak in Malaysia. The isolated region bordering Kalimantan, Indonesia, is now very popular for jungle trekking as well as those hoping to get away from it all. Lying at an altitude of about 3,500 feet above sea level in the north-eastern corner of Sarawak is the famous Bario Highland, a Kelabit territory, one of the minority Orang Ulu tribes of Sarawak. Bario means ‘Wind’ in Kelabit language. It is affectionately known as the ‘land of a hundred handshakes’ as this is how friendly locals will greet you as you wander around the community.
4Venture deep into the heart of Borneo with the Niah Caving Exploration at Niah National Park. Trek through lush rainforest to reach the awe-inspiring Great Cave, where history and nature collide. Inside, discover ancient cave paintings, prehistoric artifacts, and one of Southeast Asia’s oldest human remains—dating back over 40,000 years. Whether you're drawn by adventure or history, Niah offers a captivating journey into the past, hidden within Borneo’s wild beauty.
