05Nicaragua is a land of volcanoes, a hot climate, and interesting cities. Visit the well-preserved ruins of one of the first Spanish colonial cities built on the continent. You’ll see several places of interest on your 3-hour guided tour of the elegant city of León. Admire the attractive, preserved historical center and its colonial buildings. In addition you’ll see many natural attractions in the area around the city. Leon is known as Nicaragua’s most liberal city, and as an intellectual center that features the country’s largest student population. Your guide will show you Sutiaba, an indigenous neighborhood, followed by visits to the Ruben Dario Museum and the Museum of Myths and Legends. See the Cathedral and head up to its rooftop for the views. Explore the central square and admire its murals.
06Somoto Canyon is living evidence of the power of water over a period of time. In Somoto canyon, Nicaragua has a natural wonder which is in kind absolutely unparalleled throughout the rest of the world. The Somoto Canyon National Monument protected area covers an area of approximately 170 hectares, of which 125 hectares are in the actual zone of the canyon. Enjoy of a fascinating 3 hour tour and enjoy the wonder of this gorgeous place.
07Cerro Negro volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua! This sensational experience begins from the city of León where we pick you up, we drive for approximately 1 hour until we reach the base of the Volcano, we start hiking through the rocky side for approximately 45 mins to 1 hour- beautiful views to Los Maribios mountain range and the beautiful contrasts of its surroundings are not to be missed. Once at the top we take a few minutes to enjoy the view, unique pictures! Then we proceed to dress up with the protective gear –your safety comes first-, your guide will provide all the instructions to carry out the activity that we know as “Volcano Boarding”, which consists of sliding down on a wooden board through the sandy part for the adrenaline rush experience! At the end we have quick snack to refresh ourselves and head back to Leon or continue with one of our many additional tours…
08It is an active volcano with craters and fumaroles, it offers one of the most beautiful volcanic landscapes in Nicaragua. You will walk a little visited nature trail with abundant shade
09Experience the thrill of boarding down the slope of Cerro Negro Volcano, one of Central America's most active volcanoes. The hike up the volcano is about one hour. We explore the main crater and walk the rim up to the highest point. The panoramic views of the pacific are breathtaking, you can see the colonial city of Leon, pacific ocean and volcanic chain. After the instructions and putting on the safety equipment we slide down the volcano. The speed is controlled by using your feet as breaks. The faster you go, the more extremer the activity. If you do not want to do the volcano boarding you may also walk down the volcano.
