Three hours — leisurely 5km walk through the vineyard, followed by lunch and a guided wine-tasting at Quinta da Pacheca estate.

We had a fantastic day. Ana reached out to inform us that a lunch reservation wasn't available and suggested an alternative winery. We began in Cumieire with a vineyard hike that Ana customized based on our fitness levels. The local specialties for lunch, paired with wines she pre-selected, were delightful. Afterward, we enjoyed a fun and informative tour and tasting at H.O. Winery led by Cliff. Ana was incredibly attentive and warm. We will surely take another tour with her on our next visit.SoniaWV

    5.0· 8 reviews

Around eight hours from Porto — a visit to two wineries, local lunch, and scenic viewpoints over the Douro River.

I hesitate to share my experience because I want to preserve the special charm of this tour. I'm concerned that once others discover how wonderful it is with Bruno, he may become too busy for my next trip to Portugal. During our one-hour drive from Porto, Bruno provided an engaging history of Portugal and pointed out interesting sights. He was approachable and friendly, answering our questions with great humor. We visited local wineries where the hosts were enchanting and the wines exceptional. Our second host prepared an astonishing meal featuring authentic Portuguese dishes. Engaging with the local culture and winemakers was precisely what we were looking for. Bruno is a rare guide; he not only makes the experience enjoyable but also possesses a genuine passion and knowledge of the Douro region's heritage. If you have the chance to book a tour with him, you are set for one of the most unforgettable experiences you could ever hope for.TripswithVal

Forty-eight hours from your hotel — wine tastings, historical visits, and panoramic views across the Douro River, featuring local cuisine and a riverboat trip.

Bruno, a local from the Douro Valley, showcased his deep passion for the area throughout the tour. This was my second visit, this time with my parents, and we were thoroughly entertained from the moment he picked us up until he dropped us off at our hotel. We initially planned a two-day tour that included Porto, but thanks to Bruno, we opted for Douro both days. He took us to a local farmers market to pick seasonal figs on our way to the wineries and even gifted us bottles of his favorite wine. Bruno felt like family, and we look forward to seeing him again next year. I highly recommend Bruno and his tours; you won't regret it.ShayaAnsari

    10. Full-day private tour of Douro Valley wineries from Lamego

    5.0· 1 reviews

A full day of wine tasting, Michelin-starred lunch, and a vintage boat ride — all with private transport and an exclusive guide from your hotel in Lamego.

Our group had an incredible experience touring the Douro Valley the Saturday before Easter, feeling as though we might spot a hobbit with every twist on the misty roads. João, our guide and driver, picked us up at our Porto hotel in a spotless Mercedes van and began sharing fascinating insights about the Douro region's history. One party member has a disability, but João ensured our trip was well-planned and accessible throughout. The region's hilly terrain made travel historically challenging, yet we enjoyed breathtaking views as we navigated tunnels and high bridges. Our first stop was Amarente, a delightful village with a picturesque church plaza, where we indulged in delicious Portuguese pastries. We continued on to Vila Real, exploring its historic town center filled with shops and churches, and took a detour to the stunning Mateus Palace. This area, famous for its black pottery and road rally decorations, brought back memories of the iconic wine bottle from my university days. The palace grounds were remarkable, and we even uncovered some Harry Potter connections. Later, we enjoyed savory pastries and a demonstration of their preparation. The highlight was exploring the vineyards on our way to a wine tasting, where we learned about the serious commitment to winemaking in the region, including the challenges of its terraced vineyards. We tasted various wines, including red, white, and port, paired with a charcuterie plate, all while soaking in stunning views. João's deep knowledge and passion for the region added an invaluable touch to the whole experience. Thanks to Luxury Douro Tours for a fantastic day. I highly recommend this tour for its unique insights and unforgettable sights that truly stand out in a group setting.LouiseH362
