I arranged a private tour while our ship docked in Coquimbo. Our guide, Samantha, was proficient in English and highly informed, leading the tour seamlessly. We traveled through the Elqui Valley, stopping for pictures at a reservoir before visiting the Falernia vineyard and pisco distillery. We also explored the interesting town of Vicuña. On our way back, we visited the la Recova market in La Serena and the lighthouse. The cost was $45 payable upon arrival, which was significantly cheaper than the cruise ship's tour. Although the cruise excursion featured a three-course meal, I preferred to skip that and enjoy more time exploring the region. I would strongly recommend this tour.
A day tour through Elqui Valley allowed me to explore charming small towns, stunning night skies, and quaint hotels and resorts. It’s definitely worth taking one or two day trips from La Serena, Chile. Don't miss the Pisco Sours and the relaxing atmosphere of the local towns.
We were scheduled for pickup at around 8 am for the Elqui Valley tour, but unfortunately, the company overlooked us. After contacting them, they arranged for a taxi to take us. Our driver was excellent—very informative, friendly, and attentive—providing us with a personalized experience with Mr. Raul Osorio L.
I took a day trip to the Elquí Valley with Ecoturismo La Serena and had a fantastic experience. The minibus was comfortable, and we visited charming towns like Vicuña, Montegrande, and Pisco Elqui. We enjoyed delicious food and I want to commend Marcelo's excellent driving and Sebastian's engaging guiding. I learned a great deal about the area and highly recommend them for their reasonable prices.
The tour was highly engaging. Our guide and driver were both knowledgeable and supportive. With a group that spoke English and Spanish, the guide seamlessly switched between the two languages, ensuring everyone understood the information. The pace was also very comfortable.
The scenery was excellent, and our tour guide had a friendly demeanor. However, the pisco tasting could use some enhancement; the insights provided were informative, but we only sampled cocktails instead of the actual pisco.
The day excursion to the Elqui Valley was both enjoyable and informative. Learning about Gabriela Mistral's upbringing, her life, and her works was truly enriching. Additionally, visiting Pisquera Aba and tasting the region's delicious drinks, especially the Pisco Sour, was a highlight. The stunning mountain views and the solar energy-based lunch were also delightful.
It was convenient to let someone else handle the driving and choose the sights. The guide was excellent. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because I had plenty of time for tours, and this one didn’t match my top preferences. However, visiting Gabriela Mistral's home provided valuable insights.
The day was filled with exploration, knowledge, lovely experiences, and stunning scenery. I thoroughly enjoyed the excursion! A heartfelt thanks to Natalia for sharing her knowledge with such enthusiasm.
Our full-day excursion began at the port of Coquimbo, Chile, in a 16-passenger Mercedes Van provided by Turismo Cochiguaz, with Samantha as our knowledgeable guide who spoke excellent English. Due to light traffic, she suggested a visit to the Faro lighthouse before heading into the picturesque Elqui Valley, reaching the outskirts of Vicuna and stopping at the ABA Pisco Distillery, which has been family-operated since 1921. We enjoyed a tasting of four different types of Pisco and an informative tour. Next, we explored the quaint town of Vicuna and its charming square, experiencing the local culture. Samantha ensured we stayed on schedule while we admired the stunning views of the Elqui Valley from a viewpoint. I strongly recommend this tour company for their great communication, exceptional guide, and skilled driver.
