In early October, my husband and I had a great tour with Brandon, just the three of us. We drove to Kingman, explored the Route 66 and Electric Vehicle Museum, and then headed to Oatman, taking in the historic Route 66 along the way. Brandon shared his extensive knowledge of the mining camps, Route 66, and the Black Mountains, which enhanced our experience. He is a remarkable guide and knowledgeable environmentalist, making the day unforgettable. Oatman was a highlight, with its famous free-roaming burros that Brandon knew by name. We dined at a historic hotel where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard used to play poker. The food was great, and the interior, adorned with over half a million signed dollar bills, was fascinating. There’s an intriguing story behind this tradition that started with the early miners. I highly recommend calling Brandon for a tour to learn more. For a wonderful experience, reach out to Desert Wonder Adventures, LLC. Bob Walton, the owner, is fantastic to work with and has excellent staff who ensure the best possible tours. We even returned in early November for another memorable trip with Eddie, exploring the west rim of the Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree Forest. A big thank you to Desert Wonder Adventures; we’re excited to come back soon.
The Oatman Mining tour was exceptional. The many shops and free-roaming donkeys were a highlight, as the donkeys were adorable. We experienced a flash flood that washed out the road, but our driver kept us updated on when it was safe to leave. On the return trip, he was patient and kind, just like the entire experience in Oatman.
Visit this charming old town to enjoy the lively atmosphere filled with burros and friendly people. The drive from Laughlin was also enjoyable and offered beautiful views.
Ed was an excellent driver with great knowledge of the area. He was very personable, and even though there were just two of us, we had a lot of fun, getting Ed to laugh along the way.
It was truly incredible! The experience was very informative, and interacting with the donkeys felt magical. Our guide was fantastic!
Excellent experience from beginning to end. I will definitely consider using them again during future trips, possibly for the same tour. The description was completely accurate.
Our guide, Brandon, stood out with his informative and friendly approach, clearly taking pride in his work. The stunning mountain views, pleasant stops, and welcoming locals added to the experience. I look forward to booking another tour soon.
This was an excellent day trip with numerous sights that you might otherwise overlook. Our guide, Will, was wonderful and shared a wealth of knowledge about the locations we visited.
For city dwellers, this trip is a great escape! While it's not true wilderness, it immerses you in a charming country town surrounded by nature. The experience was both relaxing and enjoyable.
Our guide Ed was punctual, polite, and incredibly well-informed about the local fauna, flora, and history. We loved the tour of the Route 66 museum. He provided helpful safety tips around the donkeys, which proved necessary when one almost took someone’s shopping bag. Oatman was truly an unforgettable experience, and we had a wonderful time.
