Glacier Skywalk is a 1,312-foot-long walkway, offering extraordinary views of Sunwapta Valley and surrounding mountains, with a glass-bottom observation platform nearly 1,000 feet high.
Columbia Icefield Skywalk is situated in Jasper National Park, a 1,312-foot-long walkway that extends nearly 100 feet into Sunwapta Valley, providing stunning views of Alberta's mountains and glacier-carved landscapes. At its end, the observation platform features a glass bottom, elevating you almost 1,000 feet above the valley floor, ensuring a remarkable perspective.
Visitors should dress in layers, as weather conditions can change rapidly in the mountains. The walkway is accessible for most visitors, but taking care on the glass surface is recommended. Enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty and the thrill of being suspended over the valley.
Reviews
The views were stunning! We had a great time even with the overcast skies. The coffee and hot chocolate at the summit were also excellent.
It was an incredible experience. The staff and service were excellent. The bus driver provided clear explanations throughout, making it an enjoyable time.
After visiting the glacier 25 years ago for our Silver Wedding anniversary, it was wonderful to return for our 50th. The thrill and awe haven't diminished at all. One of our grandchildren accompanied us and loved the ride onto the glacier. The new Skywalk is definitely worth experiencing. We highly recommend this trip to everyone.
The experience was very well-organized and enjoyable. The views were stunning, the area was clean, and the staff was friendly. It's definitely a must-see, and there isn't much walking involved.
Abbi and Harry, our shuttle drivers, were kind and accommodating. Logan, our guide and driver on the glacier, was very knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable.
It was an enjoyable experience with stunning views. We liked the viewpoint, but it was quite crowded, and the wait for the bus was overly long.
I found the Columbia Icefields experience to be quite underwhelming. After taking a bus to the walkway, walking on a small glass-bottomed walkway felt disappointing. I've had much better experiences in the Swiss Alps, where the glass walkways extend much further. Overall, this was a significant letdown.
The Skywalk was engaging, though it doesn't bring you particularly near the glacier. We felt the entry fee was somewhat steep for this experience.
The image is deceptive. I anticipated the walk would go much further as an overhang, but it didn’t meet my expectations. Overall, I don't think it was worth the cost.
It was a good experience overall, but it felt quite crowded with many people around, and the overcast weather prevented us from fully enjoying it.
