The staff at the ranch was welcoming and accommodating, and our guide Sofie was outstanding. Traveling as a group of ten, including four children, we had concerns about how a trail ride would go with varying levels of experience. However, it truly surpassed our expectations. The breathtaking scenery in the Tetons was unforgettable, and Sofie's calm and positive approach made a significant difference. By the end of the ride, our urban kids were thrilled to feel like real cowboys and didn't want it to end. The dinner was enjoyable as well, with most opting for the well-cooked steak, while a few kids chose chicken. Unfortunately, there was an issue with dessert that cast a shadow on an otherwise fantastic evening. We were the last to go through the cookout line and found only three servings of cobbler remaining for our group of ten, which included four young children. When I raised the concern with the staff, they simply shrugged and mentioned that someone must have taken extra. There was no apology, no efforts to rectify the situation, nor even acknowledgment of the issue. This wasn’t merely about the dessert; it was about the lack of accountability. For a premium trail ride and dinner costing nearly $2,000, guests shouldn't have to explain to disappointed kids why they missed out on dessert. A small gesture or some concern could have easily addressed the situation. Instead, it felt like we were left to handle it ourselves. I would definitely recommend the ride, especially with Sofie, but I hope the ranch improves their management of details that can leave a lasting impact.
The trail ride was decent but very dusty. The dinner was underwhelming, and I must highlight the added $20 mandatory gratuity that may catch some off guard. While the wranglers were nice, the experience felt impersonal as they seemed focused on getting through as many groups as possible. Overall, the hurried dinner combined with the cost of $200 per person makes this a poor value, so I would recommend finding another venue for a dinner ride.
The trail was stunning, the food was delicious, the horses were full of personality, and the wranglers did an excellent job interacting with our children.
Upon our arrival, the situation was quite chaotic. There were too many participants, resulting in our division into four different groups. I specifically requested a smaller group, yet found myself in group four. It took an hour for the first two groups to depart. We were later told that the final two groups would merge into one large group due to a missing horse wrangler. This felt akin to being part of a large, sluggish bus tour, which led to a slow pace and frequent stops for various needs. The enticing pictures and positive reviews had us looking forward to an enjoyable horseback ride with just six others, but instead, we experienced a slow and interrupted journey with 16 participants. As noted in other feedback, gratuities are required to be paid in advance. While I anticipated this and was indifferent at the time, given the disorganized experience, I would not have given a tip afterward. It’s possible we encountered them on an off day, but this did not meet any of my expectations.
The Trailride with Cookout was enjoyable, but I found it overpriced. Upon arriving, the state of the facilities and public restrooms was concerning; everything looked neglected. We chose this experience for our horse-loving teen, and while the cost included a 6% tax and 20% gratuity, I hoped it would be worth it. The two guides were friendly and professional, and I appreciated being assigned a gentle horse due to my nerves. Dinner felt more like a picnic than a cookout, as it was already prepared, but the food was excellent, complemented by stunning mountain and river views. There was no water served, only canned soda. After dining, we rode for about ten more minutes back to the starting point. Overall, the scenic ride was likely the best I've experienced, and my family had a great time. While I don't regret the outing, I wish it hadn't been quite so costly; I would have rated it five stars if I didn't feel it was overpriced.
We experienced the cookout ride, which offered stunning views and was suitable for a variety of riders. After enjoying a tasty dinner, my mother-in-law was kindly given a wagon ride back. The staff were patient, friendly, and ensured everyone had a great time. Watching them gather 125 horses as they trotted to the river for the night was truly spectacular.
The experience was enjoyable and well-structured, featuring a beautiful scenic ride. While the horses maintained a slow walk, they would have preferred a faster trot; nonetheless, it was a fun outing.
This was an incredibly disappointing experience. The ride was over an hour late, and the food was subpar—no baked potato or cobbler, a salad without dressing, overcooked steak, no chicken or veggie burger, and cold beans served with plastic utensils. The wranglers confessed they were unprepared for the number of guests and lacked enough supplies. When we voiced our concerns, the owner dismissed us, claiming, “we don’t care what you write, we sell out every night anyway.” I would strongly advise against booking with this company, as other guests staying in cabins reported they were filthy. In contrast, Mill Iron Stables contacted us early to cancel due to safety concerns from the prior night’s rain, showing true honesty and integrity. Had weather allowed, we would have preferred riding with them.
This trail ride was enjoyable and simple, with friendly wrangler guides. The steak was excellent and the scenery unforgettable. It's a great option for beginners.
We experienced a hail and rain storm on our return, and we felt that rain gear should have been offered to us beforehand. It would be helpful to have rain gear stored in each saddle bag.
