The Atacama Giant
Iquique, Chile

The Atacama Giant is a massive geoglyph carved into the arid landscape of the Atacama Desert, depicting a human figure stretching over 86 metres in length. Created by indigenous cultures likely between 1000 and 1400 AD, this ancient artwork is one of the largest of its kind in the world and reflects the region’s rich pre-Columbian heritage.
Plan to visit during early morning or late afternoon for the best light and cooler temperatures. While in the area, the nearby town of Pica offers a chance to explore local agriculture and hot springs, providing a contrasting glimpse of life in this extreme desert environment.
