Reviews
The staff was very friendly and welcoming in a clean and easy-to-locate venue. There was ample guidance during the food preparation, including making tortillas by hand. Both the food and drinks were delightful. Highly recommended.
During our brief stop from the ship, we looked for an engaging activity and decided on the cooking class at Jaguar Cafe, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The class was well-organized and enjoyable. With the owner or cook, we made tortillas, and it was both educational and entertaining. The relaxed atmosphere, top-notch service, and high-quality ingredients added to the experience. We appreciated how everything adjusted to fit our ship's schedule, which made it so much easier for us. We felt completely at ease and truly enjoyed our morning there. Given that the beach in Costa Maya isn't particularly appealing and can be crowded, this was definitely the best way to spend our time. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding experience during those few hours, and we highly recommend it.
Diego and the team were welcoming and accommodating. We got there early, and they arranged a private class just for us. The food was tasty, and we really enjoyed ourselves. After the class, my aunt relaxed while I had a massage on the beach. They also assisted us in getting a taxi back to the ship. We had a wonderful day, and I wish them all the best. I would certainly recommend this tour.
This was an excellent experience. Claudia, Liss, and Chayo were fantastic hosts, making cooking and dining enjoyable. I highly recommend this for anyone in Costa Maya. A taxi costs $5 per person for the round trip. Arrive early or linger after to enjoy the beautiful beach by the restaurant.
I'm looking forward to returning to the States to teach our kids how to make tortillas. It was a wonderful experience, and the food was incredible.
It was an enjoyable experience. If you don't eat pork, make sure to inform them ahead of time, as Al Pastor is typically made from pork; they will replace it with chicken for you.
Claudia and the other instructors were fantastic. Our group of eight had a well-organized experience learning to prepare pastor pork tacos, guacamole, pico de gallo, and homemade tortillas, all of which we enjoyed afterwards. The location is just opposite the beach, surrounded by shopping options, and I even treated myself to a $25 massage on the beach before the class.
The cooking class was an engaging experience suitable for couples, families, or solo participants. Everyone prepared their own appetizers and main courses, with choices of pork, chicken, or vegetarian options. The instruction was outstanding, offering tips to tailor flavors to individual tastes. The restaurant maintained a clean and pleasant environment, showing a strong commitment to hygiene, including proper cleaning and glove use for handling raw meat. The group size allowed for interaction with fellow participants and the restaurant’s owner and staff. I highly recommend it.
I absolutely loved this tour. It was the highlight of our cruise and I highly recommend it. I learned a lot, especially how easy it is to make tortillas.
We had an incredible and enjoyable experience at the Cafe Jaguars Waterfront Mexican cooking class. The chefs were fantastic, keeping us entertained and savoring every bite from beginning to end. The guacamole, chicken tacos, and the thoughtful gift of achiote made us feel like family. I appreciated the birthday sash and the delicious cake, which created lasting memories for my 50th birthday. To top it all off, we spent the rest of the day at the beautiful beach, providing a relaxing conclusion to a fun and delicious experience.
