Reviews
This experience exceeded our expectations. The island was stunning with crystal-clear waters, just like in pictures, and we had fun feeding fish by hand. All the necessary gear was included. The only downside was the lengthy bus ride of over 2.5 hours, but our driver and host were friendly, the bus was well-ventilated, and the time passed quickly. After snorkeling, we enjoyed a speedboat ride through the mangroves in the national park, which was also a blast. The lunch buffet was delicious. I highly recommend this memorable trip to anyone.
Cayo Arena offered a fantastic experience—it's a stunning little island just 10 minutes from the mainland by speedboat. Everything was great, except for the boat driver, who appeared to have a bad attitude and seemed disinterested, while the other two staff were friendly and informative.
This activity was truly enjoyable and aligned perfectly with the description. Although the trip is somewhat lengthy, it's absolutely worthwhile for snorkelers. We spent two hours on the island, where we observed an abundance of fish, followed by a visit to the mangroves, which was a lot of fun. On our return, we paused at a cigar and jewelry workshop, where the artisan explained their craft without any pressure to buy. The people were welcoming, and our guide provided insights about the Republic in four different languages, which was greatly appreciated. A delicious buffet was served upon our return. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this outing.
This day trip to Cayo Arena near Punta Rucia was very enjoyable. We began with a minibus ride to Punta Rucia and then switched to a boat that took us to the beautiful island with its clear waters and fine sand. The island offered fruits, drinks, and rum, which created a nice, relaxed vibe. Snorkeling was a highlight; we saw various fish and had bread to attract them. We then explored the mangroves, which was thrilling due to the speed of the boat. The buffet provided was decent, though nothing remarkable. The stop at the “cigar factory” felt unnecessary, as it catered primarily to tourists with high prices. The tour guide and staff were always friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, the positive aspects far outweighed the negatives, and if you seek nature, the sea, and great snorkeling, this trip is for you.
Paradise Island is indeed a unique destination with good food, though quite simple. However, I found the staff to be a bit unengaged, as if they were merely performing their duties. Additionally, the visit to the cigar factory felt more like a tourist trap, with a brief overview followed by a lengthy sales pitch from the employees.
We spent 11 hours in total from pickup to drop-off, which included a 4-hour drive each way. After a boat ride, we arrived at the island and had only 1.5 hours there before heading back. We briefly toured some mangroves for 10 minutes, then enjoyed lunch for about an hour, with the food rated around 6.5 out of 10. The return drive was another 4 hours. Overall, it felt like a long day of travel for just 1.5 hours of enjoyment on a small island crowded with around 300 people, and 25 in each boat. Had I seen a review like this beforehand, I might have reconsidered, but it was still a worthwhile experience.
The service was very prompt in informing us about our hotel pickup time. The bus ride was comfortable, equipped with AC and not too crowded, possibly due to our Monday tour. The crew was enjoyable and very helpful. Lunch offered a variety of delicious options for everyone. We had a personal videographer and photographer named Matis who delivered our edited memory chip to our hotel the next day. It was a truly memorable experience, and I highly recommend this tour with our guide Izzy.
an outstanding experience that was truly beautiful
For the price, this experience is quite appropriate and worthwhile. I recommend it, and I believe covering the boat with a roof adds significant value.
My husband and I truly enjoyed this tour. We were picked up at 8 AM and returned to our resort by 5 PM, making the duration feel just right—not too lengthy or tiring. The lunch buffet was basic, but we found it delightful. Cayo Arena is unforgettable—a must-see, and snorkeling there is a highlight you shouldn’t miss. The speedboat ride was exciting and enhanced the overall experience. We made a few brief souvenir stops along the way, which is quite common for tours. In summary, we had an excellent time and would highly recommend it.
