Our group, which included my son and a family of four, had a fantastic time zip-lining and white water rafting. It was our first experience with both activities, and zip-lining was incredibly enjoyable. We felt secure and had a lot of fun while taking in the stunning views. I wish I had brought my cell phone for pictures and videos since the rules were against it. We appreciated our guide for taking one picture, but we would have loved more. Sarah and Tripp were wonderful guides who made it an enjoyable adventure. The rafting was more exhilarating than frightening once we hit the river, and our guide Gunner was excellent. He was very considerate when my son wasn't feeling well and expertly guided us through Brown’s Canyon with a fun attitude. It was exciting and challenging, and while we felt cold, I was grateful for the recommendation to purchase skuba socks at the lodge. I suggest providing better information about what to wear. We wore swimsuits underneath the skuba suits and jackets along with life jackets and helmets; a waterproof long-sleeved shirt would have been great for the colder, rainy weather. All in all, this was a fantastic experience, and we are eager to return.
Having rafted numerous rivers, we understand the crucial role a guide plays in the experience. Brooks was both knowledgeable and reliable. He provided a wealth of information and made our time on the water enjoyable. We now know the true gold standard for guides. Many thanks to Brooks for an outstanding trip and to AVA for an excellent experience.
We experienced the Class 3 rafting trip, guided by Alex, who skillfully navigated the river while being friendly and informative about the scenery. Our half-day adventure ran from 1:30 to 6:00, including some bus and loading time. I appreciated the option to purchase 20 action photos afterwards for $66, which averages to $3.30 each. There were Go-Pro mounts available on the helmets, so it’s a good idea to bring your own if you have one. AVA prioritized safety with a pre-trip video and continued guidance on-site; the Class 3 trip was suitable for younger rafters. We were a group of four adults and one 16-year-old, and in hindsight, I would have opted for the Class 4 rafting experience instead. If you're traveling with larger people, I recommend going for the more thrilling rapids. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that enhanced our vacation memories.
We had a fantastic day with the AVA team as a family of four. Our morning began with a brief introduction to zip lining gear by our knowledgeable guides, Gage and Jess, who ensured we felt safe. After a short bus ride, we hiked for about 5-7 minutes to reach the first zip line. Throughout our adventure on six ziplines, Gage and Jess provided reassuring guidance. Although waiting between the 10-person group’s turns was sometimes long, it allowed us to catch our breath. The zip lines varied in height and speed, with an option to stop at the third zip line, which no one from our group chose, thanks to the encouragement from our guides. Following the two-hour zip line excursion, we returned to AVA to drop off our gear, hydrate, and have lunch, which was a turkey and cheese wrap along with chips, an apple, and a cookie, but we wished there had been more food options, especially for picky eaters. There isn’t food available for purchase at the site, so it would have been wise to bring our own snacks. The rafting part had about 10 boats with 6-8 people each, and Chris, our humorous and engaging guide, led the way. We received gear and opted not to wear wetsuits since it was warm, but we regretted that choice on the chilly ride to the rapids. Although we went through only grade 1 to 3 rapids, we still got soaked. We paddled for roughly 10 miles, during which Chris shared canyon history and entertained us with jokes. Overall, it was an enjoyable 4.5-hour experience, despite some of us feeling quite cold by the end. Thanks to AVA, particularly Jess, Gage, and Chris, for a memorable day.
Our family had an incredible vacation together, with 12 members in our group. We were fortunate to have Fence as our guide, whose passion for his work is evident. He is not only a great person but also brings a wealth of experience. He truly deserves recognition for his efforts. A special thanks to Fence and his team for making the trip memorable! The reservation was under the Hennen party.
Our guide Will was incredibly knowledgeable and truly enhanced our whitewater rafting experience. I would definitely recommend this trip.
We chose the half-day Browns Canyon excursion and, despite the late season, we were pleasantly surprised by the ample water flow, making it a fantastic adventure. Our guide, Shawn, was excellent. With a raft full of adults, we requested an exciting experience, and he delivered. I highly recommend AVA for anyone interested in a rafting journey. Additionally, the guides transformed what could have been an uneventful bus ride into an enjoyable experience.
This rafting adventure was absolutely incredible. The water levels were high, and the rapids were thrilling. JStroke, our guide, was knowledgeable about the area and made the experience enjoyable. We took a LEVEL 3 half-day trip, and everyone, including our three kids (ages 19, 17, and 13), agreed it was their favorite part of our weeklong vacation.
We chose to go rafting in Brown Canyon instead of ziplining. Due to high water levels this year, our initial trip was canceled, but they quickly informed us and offered a refund or an alternative. We appreciated the excellent communication and helpfulness of the office staff. I strongly advise wearing a full long sleeve wetsuit, along with neoprene gloves and socks, which they sell. They provide a sleeveless wetsuit for free, which I wore over my own since I dislike being cold. Ensure you have a secure sunglass strap (also for sale), as I lost my expensive sunglasses when the strap failed during a flip. The water was at Level 3 and 4, and during our trip, two of the three boats flipped at one point. This emphasizes the importance of paying attention to the safety briefing; the risk is genuine. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it's crucial to know what to do if you fall out or get trapped. I’m grateful for the rafting experience despite the flip. The unpredictable nature of water can lead to incidents that are sometimes unavoidable. I wholeheartedly recommend this organization. Happy travels.
We had an unforgettable experience. The staff at the outpost were welcoming and supportive, while the zipline (Jesse and Jess) and rafting (Enrique) guides were both skilled and entertaining. As newcomers to these activities, we felt secure and laughed throughout the day. Our family, ranging from ages 19 to 55, wholeheartedly endorses this adventure.
