This whale watching safari departs from Andenes, taking you into some of Europe's richest whale habitats. The tour lasts three to four hours, during which you'll travel on a stable vessel, equipped with heated indoor lounges for comfort and large viewing decks for optimal sightings.
Expert guides provide insights into whale behavior and the Arctic ecosystem throughout the journey. On selected trips, a hydrophone is used to detect whale calls beneath the surface. The tour adheres to responsible whale watching practices, ensuring minimal disturbance to the animals. If there are no sightings, the Whale Pass allows you to join another tour at no extra cost.

The day did not begin well as the 11 am tour was canceled and rescheduled for 2 pm, with an email notification arriving just three minutes after we checked in. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful, and we enjoyed a pleasant sea walk where we spotted two whales from afar, which later came close to the bow. Unfortunately, over half of the participants missed out on the sights. Just bad luck.
We enjoyed a fantastic afternoon. Although our departure was delayed from 11 am to 1 pm due to morning swells, the experience was magical with beautiful sunshine. Our guides, especially Alex and Ruud, were outstanding and attentive. We closely observed three sperm whales, while two others dived before we could see them. Our guides made efforts to find one more sperm whale, and we were excited to encounter two groups of orcas. It was truly an unforgettable day for our family. The Alba boat’s heated cabin was perfect for our 20-month-old baby. Thanks to Alex, Ruud, and the entire Arctic Whale Tour Andenes team.
This was the best day of my life. Getting to see sperm whales up close is a must-do experience. Unlike the other operator with their large open boat, Arctic Whale Tours offers a heated saloon and a spacious open deck, providing plenty of room to move around. The guides are also very knowledgeable.
