Lauca National Park is a sprawling natural reserve located in northern Chile, covering an area of over 1,300 square kilometres at altitudes reaching up to 6,350 metres. This striking landscape features high-altitude lakes, such as Lago Chungara and Lago Cotacotani, surrounded by snow-capped volcanoes and unique wildlife, including the Andean flamingo and vicuña.
Best visited from spring to early autumn to enjoy the clear skies and pleasant weather, the park offers numerous hiking trails and opportunities for birdwatching. The quaint village of Parinacota lies nearby, providing insight into the local culture and a stop for refreshments after exploring the park's dramatic scenery.
