I had a wonderful time on the entire tour. We explored the canyon, painted the Cadillacs, and strolled around the town of Canyon and Route 66. Our guide Sal provided great information and answered all our questions.
Sal was our guide and he did an excellent job accommodating our needs. We loved being driven around Amarillo and visiting the city's top attractions in a comfortable, air-conditioned van. Sal was not only friendly but also very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour. He catered to our special requests and took us to a local favorite for lunch. We visited Cadillac Ranch, the RV Museum, The Legs, the canyon area, and Second Amendment Cowboy. The tour provided spray paint for the stops where it was needed, and the narrative on Amarillo's history was fantastic. A five-star experience!
Sal was an outstanding tour guide. He was punctual, courteous, and genuinely concerned about my enjoyment. His knowledge of Amarillo and Palo Duro was impressive. As my first tour experience, Sal definitely raised the standard. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable journey!
The tour of Amarillo and Palo Duro Canyon was wonderful, and our guide, Sal, was excellent. We explored the canyon according to our hiking skills while visiting several key locations. The drive through Amarillo and Canyon, along with the history of the area, its houses, buildings, and residents, was enjoyable. We also received water and spray paint cans for Cadillac Ranch. I highly recommend this tour.
The views were spectacular! I encountered many new sights and visited two distinct locations. It was also a wonderful escape from the usual routine.
Nobody arrived to meet us at the designated spot, and there was no response to my message or from customer support. We ended up visiting the tour locations ourselves, and I felt very let down given the cost.
I can't even give this a rating since the operator did not show up and their contact number was disconnected. I've requested a refund from both Trip Advisor and my credit card company. I'm typically understanding, but without any means to communicate and with a fake phone number, it feels like a scam.
I strongly recommend not booking this tour. They did not show up and there was no communication at all. I traveled from the UK to wait for the pickup in a questionable industrial area, only to be left with no one showing up.
It's unclear why this tour is still being advertised while accepting payments. The operator failed to show up and did not respond to messages or calls. We are not the first to experience this issue. Although we received a full refund, we lost money on cab fares, overseas cell charges, and over an hour of our time in transit and dealing with customer service. If Viator isn't receiving any responses either, it's time to remove these unreliable operators.
Discovering a massive canyon unexpectedly amid a vast, flat prairie bordering a desert is truly remarkable. While it may not rival the Grand Canyon, its impressive presence in such a remote location is noteworthy. The informative exhibits in the small buildings are well designed. The road descends into the canyon, providing excellent views of the different earth layers and rugged vegetation. Even in early April, the bothersome black flies were buzzing around. At nearly 80 years old, my wife and I acknowledged that hiking might not be ideal for us, although most trails are considered mild. We took frequent breaks to admire the stunning rock formations and unique landscapes. It was surprising to see a good number of visitors this time of year; it’s a pleasant time to explore, with dry and warm conditions. Expect about a 10-degree difference between the canyon bottom and the top. The drive from DFW took around six hours on mostly decent roads, but the stretch leading to the canyon from the interstate is in need of repaving, as it has too many rough spots. Curiously, the opposite side of the road appeared to be in better condition. Overall, it was an engaging and enjoyable experience for part of our day. If you choose to hike, it could easily take a full day or more. Contrary to what others mentioned, we had some cell reception in the canyon bottom, though I wouldn't rely on it for emergencies.
