We want to express our sincere gratitude to Verda and her fantastic team—Saxon, Vicky, Hailey, Felix, Jamie, Alvin, and Edgar—for their exceptional service. Through this experience, we engaged in numerous thrilling winter activities and gained valuable insights into Yellowknife's rich history. The highlight was undeniably witnessing the stunning Aurora Borealis, and your commitment and knowledge helped us capture those enchanting moments perfectly. We are genuinely appreciative of all your efforts and thank you for making our adventure truly memorable.
Angus was kind to offer chocolate along with a variety of snacks during the trip. He worked hard to assist us in taking photos.
If you're considering a tour company for your aurora experience, I highly recommend Yellowknife Tours. Our family, who stayed in an Airbnb rather than a hotel, found that YKT managed all our activities in Yellowknife, making it one of our best vacations. We enjoyed dog sledding, glass etching, snowshoeing, and sport ice fishing. We even went on the Aurora by bus twice because we loved it so much, along with visiting Aurora Station and Indigenous Village. The pickups were punctual, and the guides were fantastic, especially Angus during our snowshoeing adventure. My three adult kids and I had a blast. Verda assisted us with gear rental, ensuring we had the right sizes even when the first ones didn’t fit. The customer service from this family-run business is outstanding, as they genuinely care about enhancing your experience. I look forward to returning to Yellowknife and will definitely book with Yellowknife Tours again.
I began 2026 by witnessing the Northern Lights and chose Yellowknife in Canada’s Northwest Territories as my destination after thorough research. Since I was traveling alone, I opted for a group tour and found Yellowknife Tours, making my reservation easy after reviewing their options. I selected the Diamond Package, which included four days and three nights at the Chateau Nova. From the start, the experience was outstanding. The package featured nightly aurora-chasing tours, daytime activities like dog sledding and a city tour, plus all meals, all meticulously organized and well-planned. The owners, Angela and her daughter Verda, were warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Their dedication to ensuring every guest enjoys a memorable experience was evident. The guides were also exceptional—professional, friendly, and able to conduct tours in multiple languages, fostering an inclusive atmosphere. Every part of this trip was fantastic. From the stunning Northern Lights to the daytime activities and the genuine hospitality, it surpassed all my expectations. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to kick off the year, and I highly recommend Yellowknife Tours to anyone wishing to see the aurora.
I had a fantastic time with Yellowknife Tours and I wanted to share my experience. I visited Yellowknife solo for my birthday, and this was my first time choosing a tour over planning everything myself. It was a remarkable choice. Everything was meticulously organized, with a welcoming atmosphere and a friendly, professional team that was always on time. I felt supported and at ease throughout the entire experience. I'm particularly grateful to two team members who made my birthday so special. Mandy went the extra mile, helping me light my candle in −25°C and capturing that moment with photos, which truly meant the world to me. Her generosity really moved me. I also want to express my appreciation to Verda for her caring demeanor. She surprised me at the restaurant, ensuring her arrival was timely so we could celebrate together. That memory will stay with me forever. A thank you is also due to the rest of the team, even if I can't recall all the names; everyone was exceptional. I highly recommend Yellowknife Tours to anyone visiting, as they are professional, considerate, and genuinely dedicated to creating memorable experiences.
We traveled more than an hour from the city to park on a frozen lake. The auroras were vivid and captivating, continuously shifting in the sky on a perfectly clear night. Vicky, our guide, was friendly and very knowledgeable, capturing many photos for us. Be sure to dress warmly as the temperatures fell to -32. This experience comes highly recommended.
A professional experience that I would recommend.
The tour was intimate, consisting of just three other travelers along with my husband and me. Haley drove us to locations where she predicted the northern lights might appear, which proved to be highly rewarding. We spoke with others on different tours who lacked a guide willing to take them to various spots based on expected patterns. Our experience included a breathtaking display, and thanks to Haley, who had us wait comfortably inside the car until the light show started, we all witnessed something truly magical.
Jamie was incredible at locating the lights. She was both friendly and supportive, assisting us with our photos as well as taking pictures of us.
Jamie proved to be an excellent guide and photographer. She skillfully organized the various groups for photos beneath the Aurora Borealis and led us to some fantastic locations. It was an amazing experience.
