It was a wonderful experience with an excellent driver and our guide, Mo. He was very attentive and provided great assistance, capturing fantastic photos for us.
That experience was fantastic! I really appreciate it.
This tour was fantastic; it offered the best opportunity to view the aurora while staying warm. The photography was outstanding.
The tour was extremely well organized. Our guide Tina was friendly and knowledgeable, taking many professional photos for us. Due to clouds, we initially pursued the aurora by bus, visiting two lakes where we witnessed stunning displays. Finally, we reached the lodge where we experienced incredible aurora dancing. We felt so fortunate! The lodge was cozy, and we savored hot chocolate there. I highly recommend this tour.
I had an excellent experience with Mo. The cabin offers a fantastic option, featuring a nice bathroom, a warm hearth, and convenient access to a deck by the lakeside. It truly provides the best of both worlds.
Our group found some parts of the tour enjoyable. Moe, our guide and driver, was interactive, but we felt that his attention was largely on driving rather than explaining our surroundings. We prefer tours with separate drivers and guides, as this allows for more conversation and questions while on the road. We had taken similar tours in Yellowknife that we found more satisfying. However, the "Aurora Lodge" experience was disappointing for all of us. It resembled a standard vacation home with a balcony, but it was overcrowded, likely due to unfavorable conditions—something beyond the host's control. If the aurora had been more active and visibility better, along with potentially warmer temperatures, the crowd size might have been manageable. Unfortunately, the conditions led to a cramped situation, making it challenging to navigate. Bright indoor lights further hindered our ability to view the aurora from inside and the deck. For a tour that features a lodge, especially on such cold nights, we expected some sort of hot beverage like cocoa or tea, and snacks would have been appreciated. There were none provided. The van we rode in seemed outdated. The heater struggled to keep the car warm for us and to properly defrost the windshield, which was concerning. At times, only a small section of the windshield was clear, but since there was little traffic, it wasn't too alarming. However, we did spend a significant amount of time in that van. Ultimately, the experience is heavily influenced by conditions. A warmer night, which we faced at -31ºC/-24ºF, would have made being outside more enjoyable. When the aurora was particularly active and visible, Moe took some fantastic photos and videos, including those with guests in front of the aurora. Perhaps better conditions at the lodge would have encouraged more guests to be outside and alleviate the crowding. Would I consider booking with Destination NWT Ltd. again? It's uncertain.
The views of the Aurora were beyond belief. Our tour guide Mo was fantastic and assisted us in capturing some amazing photos as well.
Ice fishing in Yellowknife was an amazing experience! Everything went smoothly and I learned a lot. The staff gave an in-depth introduction, making it engaging and informative. The best part was the delicious freshly grilled fish that capped off the activity perfectly. I especially appreciated Sai, who was attentive and supportive, enhancing our experience. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting Yellowknife!
I had a fantastic experience on the Aurora tour with Mo. He was incredibly accommodating and even picked me up from the airport to ensure I didn't miss the northern lights. Mo took great care of our group, making sure we had every chance to see the Aurora. His dedication to providing a memorable experience was evident. Thank you, Mo! I highly recommend his services for anyone seeking a comfortable and stylish Aurora tour in Yellowknife.
Mo was a fantastic guide who shared plenty of insights about Yellowknife. The Aurora lights were incredible, and I would absolutely want to experience this again.
