I highly recommend this experience if you're interested in dog sledding in Yellowknife. It’s a lot of fun to traverse both forest trails and open areas while trying your hand at being a musher, which is trickier than it appears. The hotel pick-up and transport to the kennels is smooth, and there's a cozy cabin available to warm up in while you wait for your turn.
Mushing with huskies in temperatures of 20 below was an incredible experience. The dogs were full of energy and clearly enjoyed the run. Everyone in our sled had the opportunity to drive, and we had plenty of time for snuggles afterward. The only downside was that I wished it had lasted longer—at least a few extra hours. Hopefully, there will be a next time.

We scheduled this activity for our first full day in Yellowknife, and it truly exceeded our expectations. Riding through the forest and gliding across the lake in a dog sled with these dedicated dogs is an experience not to be overlooked. We gained insights about the dogs and how the sled is managed. We took breaks for photos and spent some time with the dogs afterward. There were warm drinks available in the cabin, but be sure to dress warmly for the outdoors. The tour operators were friendly and very accommodating, making it a fantastic beginning to our trip.

Dog sledding was an incredible experience! Our guide, Ivan, was extremely supportive, and everything went smoothly from beginning to end. The sledding was a blast, but meeting the friendly and adorable dogs was the best part. I appreciated how the staff identified the shyer dogs, allowing us to give more attention to those that enjoyed being petted. I highly recommend this activity!
