The experience started with high expectations but ended in great disappointment. We arrived at opening, but the park lacks clear signage for attractions, which is a minor issue compared to what followed. Out of ten main water slides, four were closed—Wild Thang, Malibu Pipeline, Aquazoid Amped, and Nitro Racer Supercharged. Only Aquazoid was noted as closed in the app. Additionally, two areas, Cow-A-Bunga and all of Rock 'n' Roll Island, were shut down, with Cow-A-Bunga being the only one mentioned in the app. I would have refrained from buying tickets if I had known that nearly half the attractions and an entire family area would be unavailable. This closing is particularly frustrating since Rock 'n' Roll Island is meant for families, and many visitors are here with children. It seems to be an ongoing issue with current management. Weekends might provide more attractions, but you're left dealing with huge crowds. Overall, the visit was very disheartening.
This location is a costly disappointment. If you encounter an issue, expect to wait an hour for phone support. Attempting to reserve a lounger? They overbook, leaving you stranded. I won't return. Avoid this place.
The location was quite crowded, and there seemed to be insufficient staff to manage the facilities effectively. Overall, it did not meet my expectations.
We spent an entire day at Water Country USA during our vacation in Williamsburg, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Despite a heat index exceeding 110°, the park kept us cool, comfortable, and entertained from start to finish. To maximize our experience, we booked a private cabana and bought Quick Queue passes, both of which were well worth the investment. The cabana served as a shaded, private area for resting, hydrating, and taking breaks, while the Quick Queue enabled us to bypass long lines, allowing us to ride almost everything without the usual wait time. Just be ready for the many stairs—you’ll definitely get your exercise! Our group included both thrill-seekers and those who preferred a more laid-back experience, and the park catered to all preferences. Some in our party enjoyed the thrilling, fast slides with twists and flips, while others preferred the shows, animal encounters, and gentler attractions. The park was impressively clean, well-managed, and efficiently organized despite the extreme heat. We took regular breaks, drank plenty of water, and were pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the day remained. We even finished strong, riding eight slides in our last hour. As we headed out, one satisfied voice said, “This was an absolutely amazing day,” which perfectly captures our experience. I highly recommend Water Country USA for families and groups; it’s a well-run park that guarantees a full day of fun in the summer sun. We would definitely return!
Arriving early is advantageous; it reduces waiting time in line. It's essential to stay hydrated and get a locker. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat for protection.
The park itself was beautiful, and I took my daughter and two granddaughters, ages 7 and 8, for their first water park visit. They enjoyed the wave pool, but things took a turn when we noticed a man in his 20s or 30s who had cut in line behind us. He then called out to a group of 11 other adults, which led to them all jumping ahead in line. Another mother, with her three daughters, asked them to go to the back since they had been waiting for 40 minutes. This request resulted in a barrage of profanity directed at her from that group. When my daughter asked them to stop cursing, they turned their aggression toward us. For around 20 minutes, they continued to threaten us until security finally arrived, but not before my granddaughters became terrified. Despite the threats, we were told we had to leave the park because the group claimed we had attacked them, with security stating there were no witnesses to support our side. It made me question whether they check security footage or consider the many bystanders who saw what happened. One of the men in that group repeatedly shoved my daughter, making her feel at risk. If you’re okay with such behavior, then this park might suit you, but I have never encountered such horrible behavior before, and the park failed to address the situation properly.
Our family visited Water Country with hopes of a fun day, especially with our special-needs nephew. We purchased the All-Day Meal Pass for convenience, but it turned into a frustrating experience. From the beginning, the staff seemed unfamiliar with the meal pass, leaving us confused with conflicting information. After our first meal, we waited over 90 minutes before trying to get drinks, only to be told we had already used our drink privileges, which we had not. The scanners frequently malfunctioned, contributing to a lack of organization. It was especially upsetting to see other guests taking food without any issues while those of us who paid struggled with ineffective systems and unhelpful staff. This chaotic experience felt unfair, particularly for families trying to create lasting memories with a special-needs child. We expected better service for the money spent, but it was clear that no one took responsibility for the problems. Our visit, meant to be special, turned out to be stressful and disappointing. Until there are improvements with staff training and system functionality, we won't be returning, and I advise others to reconsider the All-Day Meal Pass. Water Country must do better for families.
Before visiting, I recommend checking the credibility of other reviews, as some ratings seem overly positive compared to my experience. Personally, I wouldn't consider returning to this waterpark unless I lived nearby. Firstly, the long lines were frustrating; I didn't expect to wait 30-60 minutes on a random Thursday in August, especially with thunderstorms predicted. Secondly, the food choices left much to be desired, and the meal plan I purchased was not worth it since I’m not a fan of salty, fried options. Additionally, there were numerous biting bugs due to the wooded surroundings, which resulted in constant itching. Also, the bathrooms were quite unpleasant, with a strong odor in every one I visited. A significant number of slides were closed, including the Cowabunga area for younger kids, which was drained for repairs. This made the experience even more disappointing. If these issues don't deter you, you might have a nice day since the slides themselves are enjoyable. However, I wouldn’t travel a long distance to visit again, as there are better and cleaner alternatives closer to home. Lastly, I suggest wearing water shoes or slides since the concrete can get extremely hot and uncomfortable on the feet, and be prepared for a lot of walking uphill.
The seating was poor, and the lockers were inconveniently located far from where we were seated. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
This water park is everything you could wish for. It has plenty of shade and sun, as well as a great variety of water attractions and rides. It was an incredible day, far superior to spending time at Busch Gardens on a hot day. Veterans should check the website for potential discounts; I managed to get three free tickets as a veteran, though this can change seasonally.
