I visited on Christmas Day from 3:00 to around 8:00. The festive atmosphere was lovely with decorations everywhere, and the peanut butter hot chocolate in England was outstanding. However, I didn't have much time to explore since there was quite a bit of waiting, even though the park was less crowded than I anticipated. I enjoyed the performance of Gloria, which depicted the birth of Christ through Christmas carols, and it featured great actors, singers, staging, and effects. I also caught Scrooge No More, a short musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol, which was similarly well-executed. Both shows lasted about 25 minutes. A frustrating aspect was that Scrooge was always scheduled to start just five minutes after Gloria, making it impossible to see back-to-back. I ended up missing it, leaving me with idle time until the next showing. One staff member was not helpful when I inquired about missing a show; her curt responses added to my disappointment. I enjoyed a train ride around the park to see the lights, but it came with a 45-minute wait. Dining at Squire's also took 45 minutes, largely because only one of the four registers was open, although my food was ready in five minutes. Unfortunately, after dinner and the train ride, it was past 8:00, leaving me no time for rides, which was disappointing. The park became very dark as the sun set, making it difficult to navigate, and I felt slightly uneasy despite the crowds. Overall, my visit was decent; there were some highlights and some low points, but I’d recommend going at Christmas if you keep expectations moderate.
I had a great experience here years ago, but my recent visit was disappointing. My boyfriend and I purchased tickets during a sale that advertised “any day” for summer, including skip-the-line and an activity. Upon arrival, we waited in line only to be told that our tickets had expired on July 1st. At Customer Service, many others faced the same issue. The overwhelmed manager eventually said they would refund us, but we'd have to pay an extra $85 per person for new tickets. While she initially tried to charge us again for the fast pass and activity, she apologized when I pointed out they shouldn't have expired. I felt for her since she was trying her best with the company's misleading tactics. Once inside, the fast pass generally worked well, except once when only regular riders were allowed on a ride. We found only one food place open, although the gift shops were busy. It was hard to find refreshments, and there were no advertised shows. Many medium thrill rides were closed. We still chose to enjoy ourselves, but the experience didn't justify the high cost. The horse activity we participated in was excellent; the trainers were skilled and engaging. That was the only part worth the money. Unfortunately, the park seems to have declined and does not meet the standards they've set with their pricing. It would be helpful if expiration dates were clearly stated in their advertisements rather than the vague “any day.”
On Christmas Eve, my wife, daughter, and I visited Christmas Towne, arriving around 2:00 PM, which was earlier than our previous visits. The crowd was quite small. We enjoyed four shows, capping the evening with the 8 PM ice show, all of which featured impressive lighting, music, and talented performers. The lighting throughout the venue was stunning. We also went on a few rides, with the only long wait being at the sky tram.
After spending $40 on parking, we were informed that some rides might be unavailable because of the weather, which was below 42 degrees. Upon entering the park, a staff member bluntly told us that all attractions were closed and would not open later. We heard numerous guests expressing similar frustrations regarding the unclear weather policy. In our past experiences at other theme parks during cold weather, it typically takes snow or ice to affect ride availability, not just chilly temperatures, which is to be expected in January.
I spent my afternoon and evening at Busch Gardens Christmas Town, which features millions of lights for a modern holiday experience. Having visited for many years, I felt let down this time. Several shows I intended to see were not available on my visit. It would be useful if the schedule of performances were listed on the website when purchasing tickets ahead of time. Additionally, buying a ticket online adds you to their email list, resulting in numerous daily emails. The Roman Rapids ride is reimagined as the "Polar Pathway" during Christmas Town. There is a light show, "Spectacle of Lights," every half hour. I had my dinner at the Festhaus. Their "Christmas dinner" used to feature turkey, but now it consists of chicken. While they introduced a new show this year, it also was not on the schedule when I visited. Outside the Festhaus, you can find the impressive Tannenbaum, with the "Celebration of Lights at O'Tannenbaum" occurring every half hour. The final performance I attended was "Gloria!", which has a more religious theme. Busch Gardens is located just three miles from Colonial Williamsburg, and I utilized a shuttle service for transportation to and from the park.
I reserved a visit for Friday, March 13, 2026, and the park’s website stated it was open from 10 am to 9 pm. However, upon arrival at 10 am, my family and others were informed the hours had changed to 3 pm to 9 pm. We pointed out that this was not what was advertised. The park staff showed no concern for the inconvenience caused to everyone expecting a full day of fun but only getting half a day at full price. This situation is shameful for the park. My experience with TripAdvisor was equally frustrating; despite contacting them regarding a refund, they were unhelpful when I explained my predicament. This entire ordeal has been a nightmare, and I know I wasn't the only one affected by Busch Gardens' misleading information. I will not be using TripAdvisor again.
There are numerous thrilling rollercoasters that are well-executed. The carnival games can be quite costly, and the park is well-organized with appealing gift shops. Each themed area, such as Scotland, France, and Germany, is engaging. There are plenty of dining options as well, and parking and transportation within the park are well arranged. However, expect to pay extra for parking, which isn't included in the entry fee. The German food we sampled was pricey yet tasty, though the service was frustratingly slow. For instance, others ordering pizza caused delays for everyone waiting. I suggest bringing your own cold drinks, as the park technically allows one per person. Overall, it can be a fun but pricey and tiring experience for adults, while children had a great time.
Our visit to Busch Gardens Williamsburg on April 10, 2026, for the Elite VIP Tour with Tyler was nothing short of extraordinary. Arriving early, we were impressed right from the start, as our VIP parking was just steps from the entrance, avoiding any hassle. Tyler, our guide, was truly exceptional. His enthusiasm and expertise made the experience worthwhile. In just the first hour, we rode four top roller coasters, saving three hours in line. The complimentary "snacks and beverages" turned out to be an all-you-can-eat buffet of options, and Tyler ensured we had everything we wanted throughout the day. The highlight for our exchange students came when I explained they could ride any attraction without waiting, an experience that transformed our day. Although we missed the Verbolten coaster due to refurbishment, we enjoyed exclusive behind-the-scenes access and gained a deeper appreciation for the park's engineering marvels. Our meals, including lunch at Das Festhaus and dinner at Trapper's Smokehouse, were delicious. The recommendation to see the Celtic Fyre show added a delightful break from rides, with reserved seating making the experience even better. The animal encounter was particularly magical for our students, giving them a rare opportunity to interact with amazing creatures. Over the eight-hour tour, we saw everything without missing a beat, thanks to Tyler's exceptional guidance and attention to our experience. He turned a fun day into a memorable one, making it a perfect farewell for our guests before they returned to Europe. Would I recommend this tour? Absolutely. The time saved and the all-inclusive experience make it invaluable. Thanks to Tyler and the team for creating such lasting memories. The Elite VIP Tour at Busch Gardens Williamsburg is undoubtedly the gold standard for theme park visits, and it’s worth every penny.
We had a fantastic day at the parks, but I wish all the food options and rides remained open until the park officially closed.
The day was truly disappointing. I don't understand why the park opens at 10 AM when rides and food venues are still shut. If you're expecting a quick snack and a ride at that time, this park isn't suitable. When you claim to open at 10 AM, everything should be operational for guests. I enjoy theme parks, but I've never faced so many challenges finding food here. Unlike most parks that offer food carts and a variety of dining options, this park had very few choices, making it difficult to accommodate our dietary restrictions. If you want snacks like Dip 'n Dots, you'll be fine, but for anyone needing proper meals for medical reasons, bringing your own food is advisable. Regarding the rides, I was surprised by the scarcity of staff at the platforms. Other parks usually have attendants efficiently managing queues, but here it felt chaotic, resulting in longer wait times and several empty seats on each ride. Having grown up visiting Cedar Point, I found the coasters here not worth the trouble, especially when other parks have mastered the basics.
