The guides didn’t seem very knowledgeable about the animals. We missed seeing several species, and it would have been helpful to receive information about them as we viewed their habitats.
I was thrilled to see animals like lynx, bison, and elk for the first time. The cheerful and friendly staff made the experience enjoyable, and the shuttle bus allowed me to easily visit the animals I wanted to see. I was particularly fortunate to spot a lynx and its cub. The pickup from my hotel and drop-off at the nearby supermarket upon request was very convenient. This experience was one of the highlights of my time in Whitehorse. Thank you.
We had a fantastic experience on this tour, which was well organized. The flexibility in choosing our nights was a major plus. We also enjoyed the snacks and hot drinks in the cozy cabin as we waited for the northern lights.
It was fascinating to observe the variety of animals. The drive was fairly brief. The guide had a wealth of knowledge. Keep in mind, you can explore the reserve independently if you choose, but the guide shared some intriguing details about the animals.
The tour was overpriced and not very engaging. Although the guides were friendly, they were not local or Indigenous; our guide was from Japan. Her explanations about the animals were difficult to understand, which diminished the experience. I was expecting to learn about Indigenous respect for the land and its creatures, but instead, we just drove from one enclosure to another without much interaction. As a Canadian, I found it disappointing that I knew more about the moose than the guide did. Overall, it felt like too much money for what was offered.
It was incredible to encounter various rare animals in the snow. The guide presented the information in a clear and comprehensible manner, making it a valuable learning experience. Be ready for cold weather, and keep in mind that the toilet can be chilly, so it’s best to go beforehand. Small souvenirs were also available.
This was a lovely experience for a chilly winter day. My family and I were grateful for the hotel pick-up and drop-off. We enjoyed riding the bus between stops to view the animals. The timing was well managed, making for an overall excellent outing.
The preserve is a contained area for animals not living in the wild. However, we were able to see quite a few of them. The driver and tour guide were outstanding.
The activity is physically easy since it doesn’t involve much walking. The guides provided a wealth of information and were both accommodating and enthusiastic.
The narratives of the Japanese guides were clear and engaging, making for an enjoyable experience overall. Since it was a protected area, some animals were not visible or appeared small from afar, which is why I'm giving it a four. However, the kids also had fun, and the English-speaking guide was very kind to them.
