This was an excellent option, even with the rain. It was a relaxing and comfortable experience. We enjoyed a nostalgic train ride while chatting and snacking, taking in the lake views. The seats and table were cozy, but the frequent loud train horn sounds disrupted our conversations during the first half of the trip, happening almost every 3-4 minutes. I also think it would have been better if the snack car had arrived earlier. These are minor complaints, just worth noting.
The staff provided excellent service, and the ride itself was pleasant. However, spending an additional $16 per person for the "1st class" coach felt unnecessary. The only perks were a soft drink and a cookie, and the windows couldn't be opened, unlike in the standard section. It's worth taking the train for the experience, but I'd recommend skipping the 1st class upgrade.
We’ve taken multiple train rides in New Hampshire, but this one stands out as the best! The views were spectacular, and the service was friendly. We strongly recommend it.
This experience is truly worth it. The scenery was beautiful and intriguing—Jay was fantastic! We required some additional assistance, which was gladly provided. It exceeded our expectations. The journey can definitely be described as idyllic, and the seats were comfortable.
We took a 4-hour train ride that included a lunch break. Our conductor, Jim N., was outstanding. He was friendly and very knowledgeable, sharing insights about the scenery and the towns’ histories and economies. He answered our questions and shared fascinating stories about each place. Thanks to Jim for such a delightful experience.
We took a train during a bus tour through Maine and New Hampshire and were pleasantly surprised by the food. Instead of just prepackaged turkey, we enjoyed a full turkey dinner with the turkey carved right at our seats. The views of the lake were beautiful. Our server, Jim N, was very engaging and shared interesting stories about the history of the meal and the surrounding area.
We enjoyed the scenic train ride on Lake Winnipesaukee from Meredith to Lakeport. It was a pleasant and relaxing journey, especially in the fall with beautiful views. Although we opted for first class, we were the last to get on as we had to wait for the bus tours and the turkey truck to load meals we didn’t order. Aside from that, it was a lovely experience.
