Two hours, Land Rover, led by local guides — scenic drive through Coastal Mountain Range with opportunities to see black bears and other wildlife.
This two-hour Land Rover tour takes you through the Coastal Mountain Range at sunrise, a prime time for spotting black bears as they emerge from hibernation. Departing early in the morning, you’ll ride with a local guide who will share insights about the wildlife and environment, making stops for optimal viewing and photography.
As you traverse both on- and off-road paths, expect to see diverse scenery, including waterfalls and alpine forests. Keep an eye out for black bears, as well as deer, osprey, and coyotes that inhabit the area. The tour runs in all weather conditions, so dress appropriately for variable spring temperatures. Remember, while encounters with bears can be common, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

The drive through the forests and canyons of Whistler was fantastic, and our driver Paul provided lots of insightful information. We saw some excellent bears. This tour comes highly recommended.
Jess Morris was an excellent guide—very friendly and informative. I would rate the experience a perfect 10 out of 10.
It was a lovely trip, and our guide Jes was fantastic. We even saw a Black Bear having its lunch.
An excellent tour with a guide who had remarkable knowledge about bears, making it a highly enjoyable experience.
It took us a few days to decide on our rating for this experience. Similar to what others have mentioned, there were both positive and negative aspects. Upon checking in, hotel staff hinted at the chance of seeing bears if we drove our rental car to Callaghan Valley Road in the morning. The next day, our tour guide took us to the Olympic site via Callaghan Valley road—no bears along the way, but we did enjoy stunning scenery, a waterfall photo stop, and informative insights about the area and its bear population. We tried a side road in search of bears but found none until the final 15 minutes of the tour when we spotted one feeding by the road. I recognize that I should have researched better; I might have figured out I could drive myself earlier in the morning to increase our chances of seeing more active bears, and I should have talked to locals about the best times for sightings before booking. If you're visiting and lack personal transportation, the tour is likely worth it, especially if you opt for early morning or evening tours when bears are more active—as opposed to our 9 am tour during hot weather. Jessie, the guide, was knowledgeable and shared engaging local stories and bear tales.
Our driver Jessie was fantastic. She expertly navigated the challenging terrain and shared a wealth of knowledge, giving us a richer experience with the wildlife, landscapes, and even spotting a bear.
Larry was incredible! His expertise about the area and bears was exceptional. The vehicle was modern and very comfortable. We spotted two black bears, one right in front of us! Plus, visiting Alexander Falls was a fantastic extra. I highly recommend this tour and commend Larry.
We had the chance to see bears! Sam was not only knowledgeable but also made the tour enjoyable throughout. He provided fascinating insights about the bears and the area, plus excellent dinner suggestions afterward. It's amazing how much he knew about the region, especially considering he’s Australian. The defender vehicle was quite luxurious. I highly recommend this tour.
Larry provided a wealth of information and shared excellent insights. He took us to several locations where we could see black bears.
Our morning spent searching for bears in the Whistler area was incredible. Toward the end of the tour, we spotted a black bear. Paul, our guide, was engaging and exceptionally knowledgeable about the region and its wildlife. We highly recommend this tour.
