The dedication and effort in restoring and maintaining this home is truly remarkable. Our guide was excellent, engaging, and open to all questions. Although tours cannot access the top floor due to Fire Marshall regulations—which many visitors would appreciate—it’s still worthwhile. There’s a small gift shop where purchases are optional, and parking is limited, so be mindful of the visiting guidelines. I highly recommend this experience!
The mid-19th century building is a rare find, beautifully restored by its current owner. The tour provided an in-depth explanation of the restoration process and highlighted many distinctive features and furnishings. It truly is a gem.
This house is truly one-of-a-kind. The tour was excellent and very enjoyable. From the outside to the beautifully decorated interiors, it’s definitely a must-see.
The tour was fantastic, and the guide provided a wealth of information about the house. The grounds were also very pleasant. A visit here is highly recommended.
Having visited the Christmas/Holiday tour a few years ago, I was eager for my sister from Vermont to experience this charming and unique house. We attended the 4pm tour, which showcased the Halloween decor reminiscent of the 1800s. Our guide was both pleasant and knowledgeable, sharing insights on the history, architecture, and various customs and superstitions related to the house's eras. The hour passed quickly, making the visit very worthwhile. I also suggest buying the book in the gift shop about the home's history; it has fantastic pictures. I purchased it after my first visit and finished reading it in just a few days.
The staff provided excellent information and support. The tour guide was exceptional, making it a fantastic experience overall. It was definitely worth it. The group size was small and well-organized. We chose the Victorian Christmas tour, but I can imagine any tour here would be enjoyable.
Having been here before during the summer a few years ago, it was a fresh experience to see the 19th-century decorations. While the admission price feels a bit high, the tours are capped at ten people. Our guide had extensive knowledge about that era's society.
My friend and I participated in the Victorian Christmas tour led by Rachel, and it was truly delightful. The house was filled with beauty and history. Our group was small, just 7 people, for a one-hour tour, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Rachel's enthusiasm and knowledge were impressive; she handled everyone's questions and brought the history of this remarkable house to life.
I want to express my gratitude to the owners of this stunning property for their careful and loving restoration of this beautiful home and for allowing us to visit. I discovered this site on TA and decided to join the Christmas tour with my niece. Having experienced many Victorian Christmas house tours over the years, I can confidently say this is my favorite. Every room and intricate detail took my breath away without being overwhelming. I particularly enjoyed the "Hudson River School" paintings on the first floor. Al was an excellent and knowledgeable guide, and even though the gift shop is small, it featured wonderful site-specific gifts. This remarkable house and property are truly worth visiting and cherishing.
The tour guide was outstanding, and the historical connections were truly captivating. The story of the house’s origins and its journey was impressive. The current owners have done a remarkable job restoring it and allowing access to many rooms. I brought my cousin from California for the tour, and we both enjoyed it immensely. We will certainly return for the seasonal tours.
