This private helicopter flight lesson begins with ground instruction covering flying technique and safety before you take to the skies. You'll have the opportunity to fly around the Hudson Valley while being supervised by a certified flight instructor.
During the lesson, you can control the Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter for a stunning aerial perspective. Options are available for a passenger to join, who can enjoy the flight but not take the controls. Note that all lessons are conducted outside of NYC airspace, and no prior flying experience is required.

I had an incredible one-hour introductory flight with Wings Air Helicopters in February 2022 on a beautiful sunny day. After being picked up at Ross Aviation, I was shown to the helicopter that had already undergone a pre-flight check. Before boarding the R44, I received a rundown of what the flight would entail. As the helicopter started up, I was informed about the procedures and the checklist that included machine and weather checks. Once we took off, I gradually started taking control, and within five minutes, I was flying the helicopter myself. We practiced various maneuvers like turns and mid-air hovers. When the hour came to a close, we returned to the airport and even had time for some low-altitude hovers, which was fantastic. The structured approach of my instructor made me feel very secure, allowing me to truly enjoy the experience while performing the flight maneuvers.
I would easily give this experience 10 stars if possible. I arranged it as a birthday present for my boyfriend, who aspires to earn his pilot's license someday. Finding the location was simple, and parking was just steps away from the entrance. The staff was professional and polite throughout our visit. Our pilot, Andrew, was not only knowledgeable but also confident and easy to talk to. Within five minutes of taking off, my boyfriend was handling the aircraft with only minimal physical help from Andrew. He had an unforgettable time learning to maneuver the helicopter and practicing how to hover. This is a must-do experience for anyone curious about flying, especially for those considering a pilot's license. Don’t hesitate—just go for it!
