Full-day van tour — wildlife spotting, Grand Prismatic, Old Faithful, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone with hiking options.
This full-day van tour begins in West Yellowstone, taking you on a scenic route through Yellowstone National Park. The morning leg focuses on wildlife sightings in Shadow Canyon, where you might spot bears and elk. Next is a hike to a viewpoint of the Grand Prismatic Hot Springs; if you prefer not to walk, a comfortable spot will be found where you can wait for the group.
Post lunch, the tour heads to the famed Old Faithful area, with time at the historic Old Faithful Inn. Continuing onward, you'll visit the West Thumb Geyser Basin on Yellowstone Lake, offering views of unique lakeside thermal pools. The tour also includes a stop at Mud Volcano in the Hayden Valley, a prime area for bison sightings along the Yellowstone River.
The day culminates with a visit to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, where you'll view the stunning canyon and Lower Falls from Artist Point. You'll return to West Yellowstone by evening.

Yellowstone is truly incredible, with its unmatched park and rich history. Despite the rainy weather, Spencer initially seemed quiet, but he quickly revealed himself to be an informative and enjoyable guide, making our day memorable.
The tour of the lower loop was fantastic. Spencer was an excellent guide, and since I was the only participant, I gained a wealth of knowledge about geysers and Yellowstone. I highly recommend booking this tour.
I had a wonderful experience! The tour guide was outstanding and I would highly recommend this to anyone coming to the park. It fulfilled all my expectations!
My husband and I went to Montana for our baby-moon, and Yellowstone Hiking Guides was highly recommended by our travel agent as one of the most budget-friendly options. Their communication was excellent from the start, as they promptly answered all my queries and were very accommodating with lunch choices considering my pregnancy at 29 weeks. Our guide Spencer was outstanding and very knowledgeable, addressing all our questions about the park's history, the formation of its springs and geisers, and the local flora and fauna. He even offered to take photos for us without being asked. We plan to return since we only explored the lower loop, and we already know whom to book our tour with next time.
This was an excellent tour showcasing many wonderful features of the park. We encountered wildlife, visited Old Faithful, explored Yellowstone Lake, and checked out several other fantastic locations. Thank you, Spencer, for an amazing day!
This experience was truly worth every penny. Our guide, Joshua, was incredibly knowledgeable. Since it was the final day of the season, we enjoyed a private tour. His wife provided us with an enormous sack lunch; my husband and I couldn't finish it all. They were very accommodating. I'm certain we would have overlooked many interesting spots without our guide. Thank you for the unforgettable memories.
Spencer was an excellent guide—knowledgeable and professional—who made the day truly memorable. I highly recommend this tour and Spencer to everyone I talk to. Thank you for the wonderful experience, Stan from the UK.
Our guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, which made the experience enjoyable for our family. The brown bag lunch had a nice assortment of snacks, a sandwich, fruit, and candy.
Tim, our tour guide, was exceptional. His thorough explanations made our first visit to Yellowstone unforgettable. The entire experience, including communication and food, was seamless. Tim's knowledge, friendliness, and dedication truly stood out. Highly recommended. Nasrin and Ali
I want to start by saying how great it was to be part of a smaller group. Josh and Emily Jo, the owners of Yellowstone Hiking Guides, brought along two trainees, Max and Maddie. After exploring the upper loop on our own the day before, we thought we had experienced some amazing views, but Josh and Emily Jo shared insights and history that we hadn't discovered through ChatGPT or online searches. A guided tour truly enhances the experience compared to exploring alone. Emily Jo provided fascinating scientific and historical context about the primordial ooze in the geyser pools, mentioning how it helped a scientist first map the DNA genome, which played a key role in developing Covid vaccines. Additionally, we learned about the bubbling pools by Lake Yellowstone, including a fun story about fishermen catching cutthroat trout in the bubbling waters, which Josh illustrated with a tale of a fisherman who fell through the cone. While we had spotted bears and bison previously, we encountered a herd of elk crossing the road on our way back to our hotel, checking off another item on our wildlife bingo card. We were also fortunate to witness the Bee Hive geyser erupt at the Old Faithful Inn. It felt special to see such an unpredictable geyser in action. I wholeheartedly recommend spending at least one day on a guided tour of Yellowstone, and Yellowstone Hiking Guides is a fantastic choice.
