We opted for the bus tour, which we've enjoyed in several cities. The ticket staff were very friendly. Our driver, Carmeljoy, was quite knowledgeable. We rode to The Jefferson Memorial, which is under refurbishment until July 4th, but the area is still lovely. After walking back to the bus stop, we waited about 10-15 minutes for another bus and then visited the Lincoln Memorial. Next, we headed to Arlington Cemetery for the first time; it's both beautiful and somber. Visiting the JFK gravesite was especially emotional, with Bobby and Teddy buried nearby. Due to time constraints, we couldn't attend the changing of the guards. At Lincoln Memorial, we had EG as our driver, who was both informative and entertaining. He deserves a raise. I would definitely do this tour again.
The trolley is the ideal way to explore Washington, D.C. It stops at all the must-see attractions, allowing you to disembark, enjoy the sights at your own pace, and hop back on. The experience at Arlington was particularly touching; we arrived just in time for the changing of the guard followed by a cemetery tour. The guides highlighted all the key points of interest along the way.
The majority of the tour was enjoyable, with numerous stops where we could have easily spent hours exploring. However, we ended up missing quite a bit since we lingered too long and were tired. A two-day option would be ideal to see more sights. The Arlington National Cemetery segment, however, was poorly organized. There were supposed to be five stops, but we only made it to three. When it was time to leave, we faced a long wait for the bus. Though one was at the spot, the driver was resting and said he was "on break." While breaks are understandable, he should have parked elsewhere. We inquired about the next bus and received vague responses, which were not particularly helpful.
This is the perfect way to experience Washington DC. There are several trolleys with different drivers, each bringing their own unique personality and commentary about the monuments rather than just a memorized script. A trolley arrives every 20 minutes, covering all the important stops without requiring any walking.
The pickup sites listed were inaccurate, causing me to waste two hours searching for the correct location. I couldn't get in touch with customer service, but eventually, I contacted the carrier who provided the right stop information. They mentioned they had informed the company about the location changes weeks ago. The bus and drivers were satisfactory.
The Arlington Tour is a must-see when visiting DC. It provides valuable insights and is an excellent way to explore the area.
The driver was fantastic and contributed to a very pleasant experience. His knowledge was impressive, and he had a wonderful sense of humor that added to the fun of the trip.
Provides an excellent summary of the city and its attractions, which is helpful for planning the remainder of your trip. You won't be able to spend much time at each location unless you choose to skip riding for longer.
We had a wonderful experience, as everyone was exceptionally friendly and well-informed. However, the pickup in Arlington after the tour could be improved, as many were uncertain about where to go for transportation back.
Buses did not come every 30 minutes as expected; we waited for more than an hour for our pick-up. The bus stop was poorly marked, and I found the drivers and narrators disappointing. I've enjoyed excellent hop-on hop-off experiences in other cities, but DC was not one of them.
