Two hours on foot — explore Georgetown’s colonial architecture, learn about local history, and hear stories from an acclaimed author and guide.
This two-hour guided walking tour takes you through Georgetown, a neighborhood that predates Washington, DC. Led by Canden Schwantes, an author with deep knowledge of the area, the tour covers various highlights including the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, Old Stone House, and homes associated with the Kennedy family.
You’ll learn about the architectural styles from the 18th and 19th centuries, spotting original elements like firemarks and ironworks along charming cobblestoned streets. The narrative also delves into the stories of the Black community in Georgetown, as well as the immigrants and women who shaped its unique history. Don’t miss the campus of Georgetown University, which also reflects the neighborhood’s rich heritage.
