This is a brief outing, totaling 1.5 hours, which includes the travel time on a very rough dirt road and kayaking. We were advised to leave our shoes and bags behind as we needed to wade into the water and the kayak's bottom would be wet. You'll be seated in the kayak directly in the water. The water illuminates when agitated by your hand or the oar, but doesn't glow simply from the boat passing through it, contrary to the advertisement. The guide was engaging and ensured we stayed together and didn't get lost in the dark. It's a fun experience to try at least once.
The Bio Bay is spectacular, but this tour left much to be desired. We had tickets for 9:30 but weren't informed about when to arrive at the meeting spot. After the tour, I noticed a text sent at 9:10 asking if we were on our way. The clear canoes are definitely a highlight; paddling across the bay feels like speeding through space, which is really impressive. Unfortunately, we had to take off our shoes to walk to the boats, which was uncomfortable for my sensitive feet. I was eager to learn more about the bay's biology, but the tour company provided minimal information. While we paddled, the guide was preoccupied with his phone. The Bio Bay was why we chose to visit Vieques, and I wish I had done more research on the tour operator. The road to the Bio Bay was quite bumpy, yet our driver was great. The entire experience lasts around an hour, so be sure to arrive 15 minutes early.
Experiencing the bioluminescence through canoes is definitely something you shouldn't miss. It's a remarkable sight that should certainly be on your to-do list.
This adventure was absolutely enjoyable! The guides offered clear and useful instructions that made kayaking a breeze. Be sure to leave your sandals behind and wear clothes you don't mind getting wet. The glowing bioluminescence and the star-filled sky were truly stunning.
I had a very disappointing experience. I arrived early for my second booking only to be told that there was no space for my partner and kids because my reservation had been canceled, claiming it wasn't confirmed. Even though the money was withdrawn from my bank, I want to know if I'm eligible for a refund since I spent a significant amount for my family. I was also charged twice while on the ferry, and it was frustrating to be canceled in person due to full capacity. I'm seeking a refund, another date for the activity, and compensation since I have an autistic child who was really looking forward to this, and the situation caused him a lot of distress.
This tour was fantastic, and I highly recommend it. Luis was incredibly friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable, and I appreciate his enthusiasm while sharing insights about history and the stars.
Definitely worth it. The staff were extremely kind. We arrived late and missed our scheduled time, but they accommodated us in a later group. I am very thankful for that, it was fantastic.
An excellent experience that was truly unique. The staff were friendly and communicated effectively in English. There were many options for food and drinks before the tour. I highly recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The bioluminescence was absolutely stunning, and we strongly suggest opting for the clear bottom boats. It's claimed to be the brightest bio bay globally, featuring a million dinoflagellates per gallon! It truly felt like being in the movie Avatar.
Luis, our guide, provided excellent information and was very funny. The staff, including our driver Torres, was professional and well-organized. We never felt hurried and had ample time to appreciate the glow and stars. Since we went the day after the new moon, it was particularly bright. We were in groups of two, allowing one of us to share with another group, which turned out well. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
