A 1.2 km trek from the Tea Plantation to the Morne Blanc viewpoint, featuring diverse flora and endemic birdwatching, with panoramic views upon reaching the summit.
This 1.2-kilometre hike starts at the Tea Tavern near the Tea Plantation in Sans Soucis and leads you through the Morne Seychellois National Park. The trail takes you through a cinnamon forest where you'll see local plant species like the parasol and marron Vacoa trees, plus exotic fruit trees like jackfruit and jamalac, depending on the season. As you ascend, moss-covered rocks and fern-filled forest floor offer a rich habitat for endemic birds, including the Seychelles Bulbul and Sunbirds.
With a moderate to high intensity and an elevation gain of 667 metres, the hike takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes each way. The trek concludes at a viewing platform, rewarding you with sweeping vistas of southern and western Mahé. Wear sturdy footwear and carry water to stay hydrated.
Reviews
We had an informative and impressive tour with Desmond. The experience was full of fun and took place in beautiful natural surroundings. We would definitely do it again.
The hike with our guide Collin was fantastic. He had a great sense of humor and was very attentive during the bumpier sections. Even though we returned in the rain, we have wonderful memories of this experience.
A fantastic experience at Check-out with Collin, our guide, and Gustave, our driver. Collin is outstanding and took us to Le Morne Blanc for stunning views of MAHE. He was thoughtful and shared insights about MAHE's history and culture. I highly recommend this tour with such a caring and knowledgeable guide who truly embodies the spirit of Seychelles. Thank you.
The trek feels like a fitness challenge, but reaching the viewpoint makes it worthwhile. Be prepared for a tough climb and bring water. Set aside about 45 minutes to an hour to ascend and 30 to 45 minutes to descend. Good hiking shoes are essential. The view is breathtaking, and once you're back at the parking lot near the tea factory, take the time to visit and enjoy a refreshing lemon iced tea.
