• Poovar is a coastal village located in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India. This picturesque location is bordered by a serene beach on one side and backwaters on the other, known for its tranquil environment and scenic beauty, featuring a rich variety of local plants and numerous species of spices, birds, and exotic flowers, alongside banana and coconut groves. • After exploring Poovar by boat, the next stop is Kovalam, a well-known beach town situated on the Arabian Sea in southern India. Kovalam is famous for its stunning Lighthouse Beach, which is notable for its 30-meter lighthouse offering spectacular views. • The itinerary then proceeds to the renowned Padmanabhaswamy Temple, recognized for its cultural and religious importance. Nestled within the East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and showcases a combination of Kerala and Dravidian architectural styles. It is regarded as the wealthiest temple in the world. The history of Padmanabhaswamy Temple traces back to the 8th century, making it one of the 108 sacred Vishnu temples, known as Divya Desams, in India. These divine abodes of Lord Vishnu are cited in the writings of Tamil Azhvars. The central figure in this temple is Lord Vishnu, depicted in a reclining posture on Anantha, the serpent with multiple hoods. • Lastly, visitors will explore Kuthiramalika, translating to "palace of horses," which features a total of 122 wooden horse sculptures. Officially known as Kuthiramalika Palace Museum or Puthenmalika Palace Museum, this two-story palace is located close to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Constructed in the 1840s by Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma, the Maharaja of Travancore during British rule, the palace exemplifies the Kerala architectural style and is built using teakwood, rosewood, marble, and granite. The museum showcases white marble idols and sculptures, Kathakali figures, Belgian mirrors, and exquisite paintings.
