• The day begins with a hotel pickup, followed by a drive south to Kanyakumari, also referred to as Cape Comorin. The term Cape Comorin is derived from two words: 'Cape,' indicating land that extends into the sea, and 'Comorin,' the area's former name. This rocky headland in the Indian Ocean is located in Tamil Nadu and represents the southernmost point of the subcontinent. On the route, visit Padmanbhapuram Palace, the largest wooden palace complex in Asia, which once served as the summer residence for the former Travancore Kingdom. A fine example of traditional Keralan architecture, this palace was previously the capital of Travancore. Explore its structures and gain insight into the lifestyles of the Maharajas of Travancore. The oldest part of this complex dates back to 1550. • Kanyakumari Devi Temple, situated at the extreme tip of the subcontinent, is a beautiful seaside temple and one of the most esteemed attractions in the town. It is believed that a portion of Sati’s body fell here, resulting in the presence of kundalini sakthi in the area. This site is also recognized as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Next, visit the Gandhi Memorial, which is gracefully situated at the land's end. Designed in the style of an Odishi Temple by architects of Christian, Hindu, and Muslim backgrounds, this memorial is among the most notable sites in Kanyakumari. The central pedestal of the building contains some of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes prior to their immersion in the sea. • Finally, return to Kovalam.
