Zenofon Tours demonstrated strong organization and communication, both through TripAdvisor and WhatsApp, which I found very helpful. They picked us up from our hotel, even though it wasn’t on their list, which I appreciated. Water was also provided. With only four people on the tour and just a driver who spoke limited English, we were somewhat left to navigate on our own without much explanation. Our first stop was a tourist shop selling knives, which felt unnecessary until we encountered a man playing kerence and some lovely Turkish women dancing. The visit to the tea factory was interesting since I enjoy tea, but the staff there primarily spoke Turkish, and thankfully, a fellow traveler translated for us. The drive to Uzungol was beautiful with stunning views, but we found limited options for hiking. The lakeside walk took about 30-45 minutes and was overcrowded, which made moving around difficult; perhaps it’s less busy in spring or fall. The viewing platform offered a good perspective, but I think the stop at the “waterfall,” which was merely a low concrete structure, could be omitted in favor of extra time at the lake. Our lunch stop at a lovely restaurant by the Black Sea was quite late in the day (around 3-4 PM), and while it was on the expensive side with a mandatory service fee, the view made it worthwhile. Overall, we were satisfied with the experience.
