The driver and our guide Irem were both very pleasant and punctual, which I found impressive. The tour included numerous beautiful and iconic locations. However, I think the time spent inside the Sulema Monastery could be reduced to allow for more exploration of Hamsikoy Village. Overall, it was an amazing experience.
I had a fantastic day trip from Trabazon to an ancient monastery set in a truly stunning location. The additional experiences, including the Zigara pass and a delicious lunch in Hamilkoy, were very worthwhile. I highly recommend trying the sutlaj rice pudding.

Our driver was great, and we got to see the sights, but the tour guide seemed to only recite from a script and didn't engage with us much. At the pass, she spent time taking selfies and appeared uninterested in the group, almost as if she didn't want to be there. An audio guide would have been preferable. The monastery, while historic, has been altered with thick wooden railings added by the Turkish government, and half of the church was closed for renovations, which was disappointing. Additionally, much of the artwork has been vandalized. A knowledgeable guide could have improved the experience significantly.
This was an incredible day tour! The Sumela Monastery and Karaca Cave were breathtaking. Our guide, Taner, was excellent—knowledgeable and welcoming. Special thanks to Husain for the seamless transportation. I highly recommend this experience!
It feels like a complete waste of money. I spent 140TL on the shuttle bus, 185TL for parking, and 20 Euros just to see a small portion of the monastery. It seems like a scam, although the distant views are nice.
The tour was decent, but the price on this website felt excessive. I spent around 58 USD while others on the same excursion paid only 25 USD and 35 USD through local businesses or other platforms. The price discrepancy is significant. It's wise to explore other options before making a reservation; I honestly felt deceived.
I strongly recommend this tour and suggest requesting Taner as your guide; he was exceptional. His English skills were impressive, and he thoroughly explained the historical importance of each site. The monastery is stunning and a must-visit. We concluded the tour with a fantastic meal at a mountain restaurant offering breathtaking valley views. Be sure not to miss this experience.

The bus ride to Sumela from downtown Trabzon was incredibly enjoyable. Choosing a tour over driving was a wise decision, considering the challenging roads. Our driver and guide, Senca, made the experience even better. At one point, a few Turkish tourists on the minibus requested to crank up the traditional music, creating a lively atmosphere. We found ourselves singing along and clapping, making it the most joyful tour I’ve ever experienced. The scenic drive through the mountains, quaint villages, and tunnels, along with stops for a tasty lunch and dessert, contributed to our enjoyment. It's important to note that entrance fees and meals are the traveler's responsibility since this is primarily a transportation tour. This adventure was a highlight of our trip to the Black Sea, and I’m thrilled we chose Zenofon tours.
