This temple ranks among the largest in South India and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, featuring a significant tower and walls adorned with inscriptions, frescoes, and sculptures depicting the deity. • The next destination is Gangaikonda Cholapuram, located approximately 45 miles from Thanjavur. This town served as the capital of the Chola dynasty for over 250 years, and its temple, also dedicated to Lord Shiva, is renowned for its impressive bronze sculptures. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant, with beverages not included. • After lunch, the journey continues to Darasuram, which is about an hour's drive from Gangaikonda Cholapuram. This town is known for the well-preserved Airavatesvara Temple, a stone structure designed like a chariot, featuring sculptures of deities from the Vedas and the Puranas. The tour concludes with a return drive to Thanjavur, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
