We had a disappointing experience. The wait for food was excessive, taking an hour from placing the order to receiving it. My cheeseburger, for which I paid extra for bacon, arrived without bacon, and I also didn’t get the cookie I ordered instead of fries. The lazy river was dirty with leaves and lacked enough floats. Although we had visited this park before, we will not be coming back.
I am extremely disappointed with this experience. The website does not clearly highlight the days when a chaperone is required. Recently, three 16-year-olds had no issues, but when four from the same family drove over an hour two days later, they were denied entry without a chaperone. It seems unreasonable that teenagers who can drive are required to have one just to go on water slides. This policy should be prominently displayed on the website. We wasted an entire day and gas for four very upset teenagers. It’s unacceptable not to clearly state such important information upfront.
I found the additional costs of $35 for parking and $25 for a locker on top of the already expensive ticket to be excessive. I was let down by the lack of maintenance at what should be a well-regarded Busch Gardens park. The wave pool was out of order the day we visited, and although the Wahoo Remix had lights, there was no music. The lazy river was dirty, filled with leaves and debris, even right after it had opened. At Mango Joe's, I was not given a plate for my son's kid's meal and instead received a cardboard boat. When I requested a chicken breast, the server gave me a leg and a thigh. When I returned for a refill, the bar code indicated I had already used my allowance.
I typically don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my thoughts on Pirate Island Adventure while still at the park. Starting with the positives, there are a few, but now let’s focus on the negatives. The parking situation is outrageous, costing over $40 after tax, which feels completely excessive in addition to the already expensive entry tickets. We also reserved a cabana, thinking it would enhance our experience, but it was a disappointment. The cabanas are in desperate need of maintenance; the furniture appears dirty and old, and there was trash left behind by previous guests. The ceiling fan barely functions, and there were no security measures in place—at one point, four boys barged in shouting at someone in the lazy river. Additionally, people freely wandered into other cabanas. With the changing seasons, it's surprising that no one was cleaning the areas, as ours hadn’t been swept in quite some time. Regarding the all-day dining option, choices were incredibly limited across participating outlets. For example, the pizza stand offered only two types of slices and a salad, while another venue had just two food items. We faced issues at one outlet where we weren’t allowed to order all elements of a bacon cheeseburger unless we paid extra for the bacon. We also encountered a wait time for food just 85 minutes after our last order, which seemed unreasonable to us. The staff seemed unenthused and disengaged, lacking smiles or interaction with guests. If this is part of Busch Gardens, they should seriously reassess the management and hire more motivated employees. In conclusion, I won’t be returning and cannot recommend this place to anyone. Expect to spend a considerable amount on parking, entry, and meals—potentially over $100 per person. Look for better alternatives.
The waterpark was an enjoyable experience with activities suitable for all ages. My teenagers and younger children had a blast. Parking was convenient and hassle-free. We truly loved every moment and left just before the rain hit.
The park is well-maintained and the staff is courteous. Nonetheless, the prices have increased, and they touted it as a “special” spring break sale. We purchased tickets regardless. The food costs were outrageous, costing $100 for lunch for a family of four. By 12:30 pm, they were out of salads and chicken sandwiches, which was very disappointing.
Prepare to spend quite a bit and expect to wait in long lines while making sure to apply plenty of sunscreen. The rides were enjoyable, but the queues were excessive. They were out of ice cream and pretzels, and the food lines were lengthy. A salad cost $17, but it was served with spoiled fruit and wilted lettuce. After standing in line for about 30 minutes at guest services, they provided us with a meal voucher. However, we'll not return since we're from out of state. If you want to experience the rides, I highly suggest purchasing a quick queue pass. We were happy to have a cabana, which included a mini fridge stocked with cold water; one small water bottle was priced at $8, and there were five of us. Ultimately, the kids enjoyed themselves, but it was a disappointing experience overall.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Adventure Island. Ignore the negative feedback—our Saturday visit was filled with fun. The wait times were manageable, allowing us to experience many rides without feeling hurried. We opted for a cabana, which was nice but not essential for those on a budget. The food and drinks were satisfying and perfect for a sunny day. One piece of advice: don’t bother with preferred or VIP parking if you're arriving when the park opens; the regular lot was sufficient for us. Overall, it was a fantastic day and absolutely worth the trip.
Our family of seniors rented a cabana and opted for the all-day dining package. We enjoyed our time at the location and stayed from 10 AM to 5 PM.
We thoroughly enjoyed this water park. It’s a bit smaller than the one in Orlando, but it was clean and entertaining. The food was excellent; we rented a cabana near the BBQ area, which was worth it. We also appreciated the wave pool, where you can relax by the beach. We would certainly return.
