What's the itinerary?+
• Depart from the hotel in the early morning for a drive south to Petra, the Nabatean Red Rose City and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. During the journey, take in the desert scenery while learning about Jordan's history. This ancient city, carved over 2,000 years ago by the Nabataean people, is located 245 kilometers from Amman at key trading crossroads and played a significant role in ancient Arabia. Upon reaching Petra's main site, disembark and take part in a 2-hour guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site with a local expert. • Begin by walking through the iconic “Siq,” a narrow 1.2-kilometer rock fissure that served as the main entrance to the city, and catch your first glimpse of the stunning Treasury, known as “El-Khazneh,” as the canyon opens up before you. • Admire this rose-pink structure, originally intended to store valuable treasures, and be sure to capture it in photos. Continue through the expanding canyon to see other significant landmarks such as the 3,000-seat Theater, the Royal Tombs, and the Byzantine Church. As you explore, your guide will provide insights into how the Nabateans crafted these structures and adapted to the harsh desert environment. • After finishing your exploration, return to your vehicle and head to Wadi Rum, known as the Valley of the Moon, where films like The Martian and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker were filmed. This expansive desert landscape features mountains, valleys, cliffs, and rocks known for their vibrant pink and red hues, Bedouin settlements, and historical ties to T.E. Lawrence, famously known as “Lawrence of Arabia.” Upon arrival, take a 2-hour tour in a local 4x4 jeep, navigating through canyons and cliffs while enjoying the breathtaking scenery. See the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, named after Lawrence’s autobiography, and view pre-Christian rock engravings in the valley. Sample mint tea in a Bedouin tent before returning to the Dead Sea, where the day concludes with a drop-off at your hotel. It is advised to bring hats, sun protection, and comfortable footwear.
