Peter and Mike were engaging and well-informed guides. Unfortunately, our Sunday visit meant many places were closed. We expected a private tour, but three other couples were included, leading to some confusion and four of us ending up squeezed into a smaller vehicle. One person was uncomfortable in the back. The rain made the paths to the ancient village and waterfall quite muddy, and we were unprepared for the trek through the forest. It’s advisable to wear closed-toe shoes or dark running shoes if it’s wet. Peter was an excellent guide, and I believe the experience could be better under different circumstances.
My wife and I had an exceptional private tour with Peter, the owner, who was incredibly courteous and knowledgeable about Fiji’s culture, politics, and anthropology. Since I couldn’t walk long distances, we customized our tour around Suva, skipping the waterfall and nature walk. Peter demonstrated a deep understanding of people and would be an excellent teacher in business school on leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship. His well-maintained, air-conditioned Mazda CX5 made our experience comfortable. We truly enjoyed our time with him.
The experience was quite disappointing. I had communicated multiple times with Peter regarding customizing the Suva Village tour, but upon arrival, he claimed we were only booked for the Village Tour. One group was taken in a nice van with Peter, while we were sent in an old, dirty vehicle with a malfunctioning AC. Our driver didn't provide much information and often couldn't answer our questions. The village show was acceptable, but we returned to town early and were left in a hot museum parking lot without proper guidance. Frustrated and uncomfortable, I chose to go back to the ship, only to be dropped off a block away. This was far from what I had anticipated.
Our tour with Kay Sevices was outstanding. Joel, our guide, was very knowledgeable and provided plenty of information along with entertaining stories. He did a great job tailoring the trip to meet our expectations.
