This five-hour fishing trip departs from John's Pass and is designed for all skill levels. You’ll be casting lines close to shore, targeting fish like Grey Snapper, Porgies, Black Seabass, and occasionally fast-swimming Mackerel or Kingfish.
Rod rentals come with all necessary equipment through Hubbard's Marina, but if you prefer to use your own gear, be sure to check with the crew for their recommendations on tackle and bait. For those keen to dine on their catch, The Friendly Fisherman Seafood Restaurant is conveniently located nearby, ready to prepare your fish for a meal.

The excursions were prompt and rescheduling due to weather was simple. The boat was clean and the staff was friendly. The only downside was they couldn't control the waves.

Our original plan was a 10-hour trip, but Mother Nature had different ideas, leading us to a half-day trip instead. I still aim to experience the 44-hour journey someday. The weather remained somewhat windy, affecting our catch; I managed to reel in four fish, three of which were too small to keep, while my husband caught one. The wind and drifting boat led to some entangled lines with other anglers, but we still enjoyed being out there. HUBBARDS is truly my favorite spot, and I'm tempted to relocate since they're hiring. As a bonus, we saw Captain Dylan with his impressively cool truck, which made for great photos and fun. We even went next door to have our fish cooked, and it was absolutely delicious.

Fishing poles are rented separately and not included in the trip cost, but there's no check on whether you've paid for one. Captain Dillon shared interesting local history and was very knowledgeable. Note that there's an additional $1 charge per fish for cleaning, but the staff is helpful and they will string the fish you catch. We were successful, landing around 14 black snapper using the bait provided (squid). There's no need to spend extra on shrimp as we saw no difference in catches. The crew was attentive, assisting with tangled lines, which was frequent with inexperienced tourists. We fished at about five different locations, and Captain Dillon relocated when we weren't catching anything. It's advisable to bring sunscreen, a hat, and a seat cushion, and elderly guests may need assistance while walking around.
We had an incredible time fishing on this trip. Everyone in our group caught plenty of fish, making it a really enjoyable experience. We'll definitely book this service again for our next outing.
Captain Robin and Bree were fantastic; they were knowledgeable, friendly, and enjoyable to be around. Mates Paul and Marty provided excellent care for everyone on board, ensuring that everyone caught fish. The boat was tidy, and the equipment was kept in good condition. The captain and kitchen staff performed wonderfully. I'm looking forward to my next trip.
