Four hours total — ferry ride with scenic views to Egmont Key, two hours for beach exploration and historic sites, with amenities available on the island.
This four-hour ferry trip departs from the St. Pete Pier, taking a scenic route that includes views of St. Petersburg's shorelines and the impressive Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Look out for dolphins along the way. The ferry service is the only one from downtown St. Petersburg to Egmont Key.
Once at Egmont Key, you have approximately two hours to explore the island’s pristine beaches, the historic lighthouse, the ruins of Fort Dade, and observe local wildlife. Note that you’ll need to wade through shallow water to reach the island. The ferry remains on the island during your visit, providing access to bathrooms and shaded areas.

This was my third time aboard this reliable and robust steel vessel. The crew was fantastic, and I enjoyed the company of fellow passengers, particularly nice families. Snorkeling gear was included, making it a trip to remember in St. Petersburg. Don't miss out on this experience.
What a fun experience! The entire staff was incredibly friendly and supportive. I highly recommend this adventure.
This spot feels like a slice of paradise at a very affordable price. The beverage service was excellent, and the staff was exceptionally courteous and friendly. The boat ride to the beautiful island provided a chance for a peaceful walk on the beach and a refreshing swim. It’s ideal for individuals, couples, or families and truly worth your time and money.
The crew was not very friendly during our trip, which was disappointing. I had a great experience on my previous cruise in 2024 with a large group of friends, so I wanted to book the same trip again. This time, however, it was a completely different experience.
This was a really enjoyable trip with a fantastic crew that enhanced the whole experience. I recommend booking directly with them, as small businesses could really benefit from the support.
I had a fantastic experience on the boat ride and loved exploring the island while learning about it. Searching for shells made it even more enjoyable.
The entire crew was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive—making the journey truly enjoyable. I regretted spending too much time shelling and wished I had more time on the island and at the ruins. I’m already planning another outing with The Pelican.
The boat ride to and from the location was fantastic. While it may not be ideal if you're looking for beach entertainment, it's great for a relaxing beach day. The ruins of the lighthouse and the small remnants of a fort weren't as impressive as we expected. However, the boat staff was outstanding, ensuring all our needs were met, and the captain's driving skills were superior to those of other services we've experienced.
I had a fantastic experience with my daughter. The crew was amazing and very accommodating, particularly during the ferry disembarkation. The only downside was the steep ladder we had to descend into thigh-high water when we arrived on the island. The same ladder was used for returning, requiring us to wade through the water and pull ourselves up. While we managed, this could pose challenges for anyone with mobility issues, and there was no prior indication of this when purchasing tickets or boarding.
Fantastic experience on the water. The boat was excellent, and the service was outstanding. The crew was incredibly helpful and friendly, making it a memorable day.
