My spontaneous visit to St. John's led me to explore the Irish Loop day trip, which exceeded my expectations. From the booking process through to the end of the experience, everything was seamlessly organized, and I am thankful I chose McCarthy's Party. Our driver, Steve, was exceptional—relaxed and full of interesting information the entire time. The picturesque scenery and charming villages were highlights, and the lunch provided was excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend this trip and the company.
The drive through the loop and Ferryland was quite picturesque, featuring several stops, including a craft market. Our guide Dave was very well-informed and made additional stops since we were a small group and ahead of schedule.
This day trip was wonderful and filled with activities, offering a wealth of information along the way. The scenery was stunning, and our guide Billy was very knowledgeable about the region. One member of our group doesn't eat fish, and Billy ensured that alternative lunch arrangements were made while checking in to make sure that person was okay. I would highly recommend this trip, especially if you get Billy as your guide.
This tour is highly recommended. Our guide, Dave Welshman, who teaches Newfoundland culture, was impressively knowledgeable. We enjoyed a tasty lunch in Ferryland and visited Renews for local crafts and desserts. Dave’s enthusiasm is evident, especially when he played the accordion while I tried the "ugly stick." A fantastic way to explore beyond St. John's.
Dave Welshman was an excellent guide. With his teaching background during the off-season, he brought extensive knowledge as a host. The comfortable minibus made for a smooth journey, and the scenery was stunning. The Ferryland Archaeological site revealed the rich colonial history of the Irish on the island, which we hadn't anticipated. We would certainly look into additional tours on our next visit. The tour of Sts-Peter and Paul Church was remarkable, especially learning about the fully functional Casavant pipe organ. It was truly impressive.
The small group tour was quite enjoyable. Although it rained for most of the trip, limiting our time outdoors, the scenery was stunning. Our guide, Billy, was friendly and informative about Newfoundland. The pan-fried cod and vegetables were nice as well. Overall, I have no complaints and would definitely recommend it.
Billy was an amazing tour guide for the entire eight hours. He was a fantastic host, and we really feel like we've learned everything there is to know about St. John.
Dave led our small group of eight on a wonderful tour of the Irish Loop, making it feel like we were exploring with a local friend. He provided great insights into local culture, introduced us to his friend who opened up the Bay Bulls cathedral for us, treated us to partridge berry muffins, and arranged a village tour with an engaging local storyteller. We even stopped at a scenic spot where we could enjoy the waves crashing on the rocks. The visit to the Colony of Avalon site in Ferryland was fantastic. This was our third experience with McCarthy’s, and I highly recommend all their tours.
My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with McCarthy's Party Day Tours. Our guide, Dave Welshman, shared his extensive knowledge of Newfoundland's culture and history, enriching our experience with fascinating stories related to the various sites we visited. He exceeded our expectations by connecting us with local residents in different communities. In Renews, NL, Dave and his friend, John Chidley, played music, which enhanced our enjoyment of the trip. The weather was ideal, the local cuisine was delightful, and the scenery throughout both tours was breathtaking. We highly recommend ‘the Irish Loop to Ferryland’ (which includes Witless Bay, Tors Cove, Brigus, Ferryland, and Renews) and ‘Excursion Around the Bay’ (covering Holyrood, Cupids, Brigus, and Conception Harbour). FANTASTIC & THANK YOU, DAVE WELSHMAN & MCCARTHY’S PARTY DAY TOURS 10/10.
My mother and I are spending five weeks in St. John's for cancer treatment, and with our weekends available, we decided to explore some parts of the island we'd yet to see. Our guide, Dave Welshman, took us on the Irish Loop, and it was enjoyable learning about the area's history and meeting local characters. Despite the foggy conditions, we had a fantastic day. They even provided pick-up at our location. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!
