The concept is appealing, but the app is glitchy and the GPS is sluggish, which led us to lose patience after completing five activities. While avid scavenger hunt fans might find it enjoyable, it was too complicated for casual users.
We had a great time exploring South Padre Island. Walking along the beach and discovering areas we might not have seen on our own was a highlight. It was fascinating to learn about the local residences and how the community deals with natural challenges. We also gained insights into the sea turtle population, and found it amusing that the groom struggles with keeping track of his belongings. Taking group photos together to capture the fun memories was a nice touch.
Avoid Alley Kat and Trip Advisor/Viator at all costs. The so-called “scavenger hunt” turned out to be nothing more than driving to given addresses. We didn’t even complete it because it was boring and not engaging at all. We had higher expectations based on the description. Additionally, Trip Advisor mistakenly double-booked us and charged us twice, while Alley Kat refused to refund the second charge. This resulted in us paying twice for an underwhelming experience. Both companies are untrustworthy.
