Spending a day fishing could not have been better. I’m grateful to JJ for arranging the trip on short notice and to Brandon for his guidance, especially with my son's casting. Brandon, an excellent guide, worked tirelessly to position us for great catches. We hooked plenty of fish, and had just enough in the net to make it worthwhile. We even spotted a beautiful brown bear at the end of the trip. If you're in the market for a guided fishing experience, reach out to these guys first. They provide all the necessary gear; just bring your lunch, a license, and dress appropriately for the weather. We're definitely planning to return next year.
Our trip to Alaska included several fishing excursions, but the highlight was definitely the day we spent fishing for sockeye with Owen. Owen was incredibly kind and supportive towards us older anglers in our early 70s, especially assisting my wife. He shared some great stories and brought his well-behaved lab along on the boat. While the salmon were running heavily near Kenai and Soldotna, we did manage to catch a few. It's definitely about timing. He also suggested we could fish for rainbow trout, but our focus was solely on the salmon. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
JJ is a fantastic guide. He possesses a wealth of knowledge, is easy to get along with, and offers great flexibility. We landed an impressive number of salmon and he excelled at instructing us on fishing techniques. His patience and attentiveness were commendable. I enjoyed an excellent full-day excursion with Owen and his boat dog, Buck. Owen proved to be an outstanding guide, demonstrating a genuine concern for the fish, the river's ecosystem, and our enjoyment. I caught the most fish I've ever managed in a single day. Our guide Brandon was fantastic—knowledgeable, skilled, and very friendly. We enjoyed a lovely day drifting along the Kenai River from Sportsman Landing to Jim’s Landing, a short stretch packed with fish. We reeled in large and eager Leopard redband rainbows, golden rainbows, and Dolly Varden. Brandon knew where to find the best spots and which lures worked best. With four of us in the boat, we often had three fish on the line simultaneously. Eventually, we stopped tallying our catch because it was so plentiful. We wholeheartedly recommend this outfitter.
