This was an incredible experience. Our guide Noah was entertaining, helpful, and very knowledgeable, taking us to stunning viewpoints. The husky puppies were adorable, along with the other non-running dogs, and the thrilling ride with the runners was unforgettable. We all highly recommend this; it's truly worth the price.
Our dog sledding adventure was truly unforgettable. From beginning to end, we had a fantastic time largely due to our wonderful guide, Drake. His sense of humor had us all laughing, especially during a hilarious 15-minute joke that left everyone in stitches. Beyond the fun, Drake was also very knowledgeable about the area, making the experience feel engaging and personal. He even captured some incredible photos for us. At the dog sled camp, we were greeted by Michelle, a remarkable figure in dog sledding who placed 4th in the Iditarod. It was an honor to learn from someone with such passion and expertise. She provided valuable insights into the sport and the dogs, and we even had the chance to ride with one of her A-teams—an exhilarating experience. If you're seeking an authentic, enjoyable, and educational adventure in Alaska, this dog sledding tour is essential. It was the highlight of our trip, thanks to Drake's humor and Michelle's knowledge.
I was really looking forward to the dog sledding excursion during our Alaskan cruise, especially since it included sightseeing. However, the day before our arrival in Skagway, I unexpectedly received a text about the cancellation. No explanation was provided, but we were offered a full refund or a chance to explore other activities. We had to quickly find an alternative, settling for a train ride, which was the only option left. While we enjoyed that, it was frustrating since I had booked the dog sledding a month in advance. On the positive side, the refund was processed quickly and showed no charges on my account. After this experience, I'm hesitant to book another excursion through this platform.
The views are stunningly beautiful! This is one of the top tours in Alaska. While dog sledding felt more like an ATV ride and we couldn't interact with the dogs, the entire experience exceeded my expectations. I can't emphasize enough how breathtaking it was!
Our driver Clay was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the region we explored, making stops at stunning spots for photos and wildlife viewing. However, the musher's camp did not meet expectations; a highlight mentioned in the brochure was interacting with husky puppies, but they only had one sleeping at the time. It was still enjoyable to observe the dogs' excitement for pulling the ATV. The lunch was quite good, and I recommend the Sweet Beaver shot. We also had the chance to see black bears close up from the safety of the bus.
The bus tour was enjoyable, but the lunch experience and dog mushing were lacking. We had a very rushed lunch, and the food was kept warm, which wasn't ideal. There was no iced tea available, and the tank wasn't refilled, forcing us to drink water. The dogs were on concrete slabs, and the area was wet and muddy. Some puppies were isolated in a separate enclosure without any interaction. While it was possible to pet the dogs, it required walking through mud, which left my hands dirty. I also missed visiting the taxidermy museum and gift shop because I would have had to give up my lunch.
The dog sledding experience was disappointing as it felt unrealistic; they used a motorized vehicle and the dogs weren't huskies, although they were friendly. Interaction with puppies wasn't allowed. This activity was part of our lunch stop, resulting in limited time. The rainy weather made it muddy and unpleasant. However, the rest of the tour was enjoyable.
I wish we had been informed in advance that the dogs wouldn’t be running that day. I’m dissatisfied that I paid for an experience we ultimately did not receive.
This experience was far from a train ride. There's no mention of a van ride; they intentionally avoid the term "van" and instead use vague words like "transportation." The van, which accommodates 30 passengers, is in poor condition and quite noisy. It was difficult to hear the guide due to the fast driving on rough roads. They even used the same title as the train ride, just omitting the word "train."
I am passionate about dogs and enjoyed learning from the trainers about their work with the sled dogs. The scenic journey up the mountain was stunning, and our guide made stops for us to capture photos, which I appreciated more than the train ride. The only downside was the lunch, which wasn't impressive, but it didn't ruin my experience.
