My wife and I enjoyed a private full-day tour with Tom Pickerel in the first week of June 2025. Tom was knowledgeable and approachable, making the experience very pleasant. We visited many beautiful locations in the Yukon, including Emerald Lake, at a leisurely pace. It was great that Tom was a local who seemed to know everyone, which made us feel welcome. We highly recommend taking a personalized first-class tour with Tom when visiting the Yukon and Emerald Lake.
I wish I could rate Thomas with 10 stars! Our group of four initially planned to ride the White Pass Railway but opted for a more personalized experience by booking with Thomas just two days before our Seattle cruise. That decision turned out to be excellent. Thomas greeted us like old friends when we arrived at 7:30, and his large, comfortable van was well-kept. He made an effort to get to know us and tailored the tour to our preferences. He is knowledgeable, humorous, and respectful, sharing captivating stories about life in Alaska. We spent more than 7 hours with him, visiting Emerald Lake via Carcross (great maple shop!) before returning to Skagway, with a stop at the Yukon Suspension Bridge. Along the way, he showed us several hidden gems that we truly enjoyed. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
We just returned from an Alaskan cruise and feel compelled to share our amazing experience with Thomas during our excursion. Initially, we intended to take the White Pass train but ultimately opted for a personalized tour to see more of Skagway and its surroundings. Booking with Thomas was a breeze; he promptly confirmed our plans and was entirely accommodating regarding our itinerary, even suggesting great spots. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we chose to extend our tour while we were still out. Thomas greeted us at the boat and ensured we were en route to Emerald Lake ahead of the larger tour groups. He provided helpful insights, shared local history, and assisted in spotting wildlife, including a bear, all while maintaining a fantastic sense of humor. For anyone visiting Skagway, I highly recommend booking a tour with Thomas—you won't be disappointed.
We had a fantastic day exploring the stunning Emerald Lake and the suspension bridge. Our guide Thomas was incredibly knowledgeable; his insights made the experience truly memorable and we would have struggled without his guidance.
Tom is a fantastic character who passionately shares his 30-year connection with Skagway, Alaska, and the surrounding areas. You’ll be entertained and informed for hours. If you appreciate genuine, candid tales about Alaska and the Yukon’s history and present, his tour is a must. We also had the chance to see a bear, mountain goats, and a nesting eagle family. It’s an all-encompassing experience.
Tom was fantastic—extremely knowledgeable, friendly, supportive, and very funny. Spending the day with him was a wonderful experience, and we can't wait to come back and see him again in 2026. Booking him would be a real advantage.
I had a wonderful day with Thomas, exploring the stunning landscapes around Skagway. We gained a lot of knowledge and enjoyed plenty of laughter. We also captured great photos. Thank you, Tom, for an unforgettable experience! Tori and friends.
