The actual tour we participated in was enjoyable and included more sights than anticipated. However, my negative experience stemmed from being initially overlooked for our booking. After contacting them, we learned there was an error with our reservation, and they scheduled us for a later tour. They also mentioned compensating us for the inconvenience, but ultimately did not follow through. Unfortunately, it seems we were among the unlucky ones. If you encounter problems, their reliability to keep promises is questionable.
I highly recommend experiencing snorkeling with Selkie Snorkels when visiting Sitka. Despite initial concerns about the chilly 50-degree water, it turned out to be the highlight of my trip. The wetsuits and gear kept me warm, and navigating through a vibrant kelp forest was truly unforgettable. Ethan was an excellent guide, and the staff all had fascinating backgrounds. They even offered my family a ride to Magic Island Beach during my snorkeling session, which we really appreciated, even though they chose to remain in town.
We had an amazing time on this tour. I was worried about the cold, but I stayed comfortable the whole time. Andrew was an excellent guide; he was knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring we were well looked after. I strongly recommend this tour, which isn't offered through cruise ship excursions but is definitely worth booking independently.
This tour was truly incredible—mysterious, beautiful, and ideal for those wanting to explore the exotic parts of our wonderful world. Andrew was not only friendly but also a skilled guide while snorkeling around the island. To my surprise, the water felt much warmer than I expected, especially since I usually dislike cold swimming pools. You definitely should give this a try!
Snorkeling in Alaska was the pinnacle of our cruise vacation. The equipment kept us warm and buoyant in the chilly waters. Although the sea was somewhat rough during our outing last week, the weather was beautiful. With a small group under the expertise of our guide, Andrew, who coordinated pickups and drop-offs smoothly at the downtown cruise shuttle point, everything went seamlessly. We had ample time to circle the island, explore the stunning kelp forest, and marvel at the vibrant underwater life beneath the choppy, gray surface. This experience is a must for both novice and seasoned snorkelers and divers. I recommend renting a GoPro for capturing unforgettable memories. After our adventure, the hot chocolate and tea provided at the shop were perfect for warming up as we changed out of our wetsuits. There was also plenty of time to explore Sitka after the tour. We booked this independently, as it wasn't listed as a cruise excursion.
Andrew and Hannah were fantastic guides. We thoroughly enjoyed our time. The water conditions were challenging, so one person from our group opted to remain on the shore, but overall, it was a very positive experience.
It was a fantastic experience that I strongly recommend to nature enthusiasts. This was quite a departure from my home state of Florida. The guides, Hannah and Andrew, were exceptional.
We had an incredible experience! I was initially worried about being too cold since I really dislike cold water, but the wetsuit kept me warm throughout. Our guide, whose name escapes me, was excellent and highlighted fascinating details during the tour. With only three participants due to the off-season, we received plenty of personal attention. A tip: bring a swimsuit, and if you own a full-face snorkel, leave it behind, as it won't be compatible with the wetsuit (there's a head covering). I highly recommend this activity; snorkeling in Alaska was unforgettable! Plus, the guide gifted me a lovely abalone shell he had found.
As an Arizona resident, I was initially daunted by the 46-degree water, but the wetsuit made it quite bearable. We spent about an hour in the water, which was ideal for observing sea life, particularly numerous starfish and giant kelp. Hannah and Lee were fantastic guides, and I would suggest Selkie Snorkels to anyone traveling to Sitka.
Selkie Snorkels provided an excellent experience. Initially, we were concerned about the cold, but the wetsuits kept us warm, just as others noted. They also offered warm water for our hands after snorkeling and hot drinks back at the headquarters. We encountered a variety of local marine life. If you're up for an adventure, definitely book a tour! They communicated meeting times and location effectively. Our guide was Hannah, with Lee as a guide in training. Thanks for the wonderful experience!
