Three hours of exploration — bear encounters, eagle watching, and a guided walk through an ancient totem forest, all with local insights.
A three-hour small-group tour showcasing Sitka's natural and cultural heritage. You’ll get the chance to see rescued bears up close and hear engaging stories from local guides about their history and the wildlife surrounding you. The tour includes a walk through Alaska’s most beautiful forest, where ancient totem poles stand as reminders of the region's rich indigenous culture.
This excursion offers a more intimate experience than larger bus tours, allowing for closer interaction and observation. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for the forest portion, and be prepared for potential wildlife sightings throughout the tour.

It was completely different from my expectations. I am very let down. The driver did not perform well. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this.
This was an excellent experience. Our tour guide, Mike, was informative and entertaining. We had a party of six, with a total of ten on the tour. We initially faced some frustration due to the late information from the booking company, but the small Sitka museum at the Visitor Center is definitely worth visiting while waiting for the van.
The check-in process was effortless, and the staff at Centennial Hall was warm and welcoming, especially with our children. Our guide, Gretchen, was outstanding—she was knowledgeable, engaging, and approachable. She provided a wealth of information and actively encouraged questions from our small group. It was a great relief when she drove us back to the port, as we were worried about reaching the ship on time. Sitka is stunning, and I would love to return. This tour was the best part of our Alaskan cruise.
The excursion did not take place, and there was a complete lack of communication. No one arrived to pick us up, forcing our group of 8 to buy another costly excursion on short notice. We will seek a full refund for the service that never occurred. I cannot recommend this service.
The tour was well-structured, and our guide Christian provided knowledgeable insights. The highlight was definitely the birds of prey farm, where recovering birds receive care and attention.
The experience felt somewhat hurried due to the presence of other tour groups; we would have appreciated more time to explore the attractions.
Alex was an excellent tour guide, having grown up in Alaska and possessing extensive knowledge about the region and its attractions. She guided us to the river where the salmon were spawning and went above and beyond by helping the grandkids find baby crabs among other things. She also shared fantastic suggestions for shopping and dining in the area. However, I faced issues with the scheduling. Although I booked through a platform, it was operated by a company in England, and I wasn't given an option to choose a time. My attempts to get available times via online chat went unanswered, and I was advised to contact an international phone number. Moreover, my payment was processed through an overseas service, resulting in additional fees. I nearly considered canceling due to the poor communication and lack of transparency regarding the third-party company. Fortunately, everything turned out fine, but coordinating for my group of 11 was quite stressful. It would have been simpler to book directly with the SightSee tour company in Sitka, AK (907) 738-4123.
Avoid booking with My Holidays Online. They confirmed our cruise and meeting point, but no one showed. Three other groups offered the same tour and didn't have our booking. Thankfully, we received assistance from Sitka Wildlife Tours, who even contacted Viator on our behalf. Unfortunately, we missed the tour, but I recommend booking directly with sitakwildlifetours.com for their helpfulness.
The tour was well-paced despite having three stops, which eased our concerns about feeling rushed. Watching the bears during feeding time was captivating, and the eagle rehabilitation centre was truly engaging. We also enjoyed strolling through the forest filled with totem poles. Overall, it was a delightful way to explore Sitka in just a few hours.
Seeing the animals up close was a fantastic experience. It was very educational, and our guide Tamsyn was excellent—she was friendly and shared wonderful insights about the history and stunning countryside.
