The entire experience was fantastic. Our guide made an extra effort to ensure we enjoyed ourselves and even managed to spot a whale for us in Silver Bay.
The group size was ideal with just 10 participants. The stops were surprising and delightful. Our guide demonstrated extensive knowledge throughout the tour.
Brett was an excellent guide who made the experience enjoyable. We appreciated his insights into local life in Alaska and the stories he shared, which added a lot to the tour.
The experience was highly informative and the small group setting made it enjoyable. We had the chance to see raptors and bears up close while taking in the stunning scenery of Sitka. Brett was an excellent guide.
Brett Davis was an excellent guide who went above and beyond to make the day engaging with relevant and informative insights. I would definitely recommend this experience.
This tour in Sitka was an excellent way to spend the day, filled with informative stops. A standout moment was the Fortress of the Bear, where we observed the bears being fed. While there are some negative opinions about it, considering the bears are orphaned and unable to be returned to the wild, this seems like a more ethical way to see them compared to foreign zoos. The raptor center was also impressive. Our guide was well-informed about each location, and I would suggest this tour to anyone visiting Sitka for a day.
Our guide Inga was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable, sharing detailed facts and history at each stop, and she made sure to accommodate us with plenty of photo opportunities. She was kind and engaging throughout the tour. We began at the Raptor Center, learning about the rehabilitation of bald eagles and other regional birds, which was an impressive experience aligned with the center's inspiring mission. Next, we visited the Fortress of the Bear, where we observed rehabilitated and orphaned brown and black bears. Similar to the Raptor Center, this place had an admirable mission. Our tour concluded at Sitka National Park, where we explored totem poles and the history of the indigenous tribes in the region.
The tour brought us to locations that are not easily accessible on foot from downtown. We were able to spot wildlife at three separate stops, including seeing whales.
The wildlife habitat was impressive. I enjoyed witnessing the rehabilitation of injured animals and seeing bears, snow owls, and a bald eagle. The nature walk was also beautiful. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable.
This tour provides a quick overview of key attractions for approximately $100 per person. You’ll be in a small group of 10, making brief stops at Bear Fortress, the Raptor Center, and Totem Park, which is within walking distance from town. While I didn’t check the entry fees, it was nice to avoid the hassle of buying tickets or making reservations, and it turned out to be cheaper than the cruise ship option for a similar experience. If arriving via cruise, remember you’ll need to shuttle from the port, about a 15-20 minute trip. The town has a free shuttle bus service from the port, but be sure to book your reservations online ahead of time. The tour company was easy to locate once we got to town, which is quite pleasant and easy to navigate on foot.
